Theo led the way into a wooden building that held a sign proclaiming it to be the town pub. He pulled up a chair and braced himself for the coming conversation.

“What happened?” Jenese asked bluntly.

Theo was a little taken aback by her bland attitude but quickly recovered, wanting to just get this over.

“I’ll tell you what I know…”

He kept eye contact despite the horrifying story he was telling her. It was hard to know exactly what to say to the mother of a heartless, soulless, evil like Wuden. But he knew she deserved the truth and nothing less. Her fuchsia eyes stayed locked onto him, barely flinching no matter what he said. The only reaction she gave was a single tear that fell unnoticed when he began speaking of Artor exacting his retribution. His words trailed off as he ended his tale. Yet, she continued to stare at him sightlessly as if she had really been in his mind while he was talking.
