“Hurry up, Theole! Get her tied up, and let’s get out of here! We’ve got a feast to hunt for!” the man yelled impatiently.

“We’re coming, Wuden,” Theo shouted back.

Theo made a frustrated sound and grabbed for her wrist to tie them up.

“NO!” Neivayka screamed, fighting him.

A sense of self-preservation overwhelmed her fear, and she lashed out at him. Doubling up her fists, she swung as hard as she could, connecting painfully with his jawline; she was sure that the hit was more painful for her hand than it was for his face. Theo stepped back and rubbed the raw spot, then returned glaring at her.

“Knock it off,” he growled. “Let’s get this over with.”

“NO! I will NOT be someone’s slave!” Neivayka yelled swing her fist again.

She wasn’t coordinated or graceful with her punches, but fear and anger gave her blows strength that they normally wouldn’t have. A new set of hands flashed in front of her face and reached to help Theo restrain her.
