Meskwaki (Fox) River 62 B.C.
The sun shone brightly in the morning sky as Louie exited his new hut. He wore skins and two prominent feathers in his headdress. He stretched and called back to his sleep mate.
"Alo, come on out boy, it's a beautiful day."
Doc came out of the hut and stretched just as Louie had, before finding a nearby tree.
Louie looked around the camp and noticed Nova walking down by the riverbank. She looked like she was talking or singing to herself. He hurried down to her, followed by Doc.
When she caught sight of him, she raised her hand in a greeting gesture.
When he reached her, he stood in front of her. He wanted to throw his arms around her but had learned this was not the way of the people. She lightly brushed his arm with the back of her hand, and he did the same. They smiled at each other with an unspoken knowledge that they were in love.
He spoke to her in the native language. "Do you mind if I walk with you in this sunrise?"
