Extended Prologue | Part 9
"And what the fuck are you doing here?" A female voice said, making every hair on Toya's body go up. Shit.
He moved his head towards her, not before someone had already placed an arm over his shoulder, in a friendly manner. He looked towards them, this is bad.
The female in question was Burnin, who had a mean scowling face, don't get her wrong, she just looked that way. And the one who had a arm over Toya's shoulder was Onima, who had a cheerful smile on his face.
And also there was a third one, a man wrapped up in bandages, almost looking like a living mummy, Kido was his name. And the worst thing was all of them were his father's sidekick.
Toya smiled nervously, "Wh-What brought you guys here?"
"That's a stupid question." Burnin spat, "What are you" —pushing her finger on Toya— "doing here?"
"Now, now, Burn, don't be rough on little Toya." Onima said with his usual smile. But calling Toya little would an understatement as he was tall as Onima.
Toya knew all three of the Sidekicks for years now. But he didn't like any of them. Just like that man, all of them garbages in their own way. It was a wonder how his father recruited all of the clowns.
"But…" he looked at Toya, "You didn't use your quirk illegally? Did you?" he said looking at Toya's clothes which were half burnt off.
Toya brushed of Onima's hand taking a step back, "Illegally as in I stopped that thing…" using his thumb to point towards Giantomatchia. "Yeah, I did." Toya usually would have lied but if they were here, maybe that piece of shit was here as well. And he the last thing he wanted to do is act weak in front of them.
Theree of them looked at each other, before bursting out laughing.
"That was a good one." Onima said in between his laughs, "With your quirk, it would be a miracle if you could light a candle except burning yourself off."
Burnn the girl with green flames for hair, sneakered, "We have hero work to do. So don't get in our way, chump."
Kido, the living mummy was the last one to go, not before saying, "Don't try to embarrass your father that way."
And with that, the three of them were gone. Well, that worked as a charm. He breathed out in despoilment, huh, people didn't hold a high view of him, did they?
It wasn't arrogance or anything but Toya was sure he could take one of them out if he tried. And it was very tempting to do so.
Toya took out his phone, the network was still down. His mother and siblings would get worried. And he really didn't want to see that man's face right now. Well time to leave then.
"You know them?" Hawks said, making Toya almost winch. He couldn't get out that easily could he.
Toya looked at Hawks, opening his mouth closing them. He ran out of lies, didn't he. He sighed, "They kinda work for my father…" he said shrugging his shoulder. "That should explain why, I am better than most of the pro heroes out there, while still being a civilian." The last statement was almost an insult. But fuck pleasing people.
And with that Toya started to walk away, and surprisingly Hawks didn't stop him this time. It took almost three hours to return home, as no vehicles were on site. He literally had to drag himself through.
And when he went home, things turned to worst.
.
Toya woke up almost feeling exhausted, last night was a mess. But he didn't want to think about it the first thing in the morning. With groggy eyes, he got out of bed freshening up.
He looked at the calendar, a sad smile on his face, this was a marked day. The day he was supposed to take the UA exam. Now it was just another day.
By the time he was at the table breakfast was already made. Just the usual stuff, but Fuyumi's cooking skills were getting better. Luckily after the attack on Duki city, Enji didn't return home at night. And Toya was glad not to see his face.
After finishing breakfast he would have locked himself in his room for the day, but he was stopped. He looked back at the hand that was placed on his shoulder
"What is it now, Natsuo?" Toya asked already feeling annoyed.
