Chapter 7: The Ancient Beast

"Ancient creatures wouldn't hurt people unless they felt threatened about something or someone. It indicates that one of you committed a heinous act that infuriated the ancient beast."

"You mean."

"Yes, he is taking his revenge on that person, but since that person knew that the ancient beast was after him, he disguises himself among the group to get the word out that the beast was targeting innocent people."

"I knew it! See! I told you that the ancient beast will not harm us!" The other people seemed to be nodding in agreement with what the little girl had said.

"Who could it be?"

"Surrender already!" An old man shouted at everyone, and the others followed.

"Whoever you are! Please surrender!" Another spoke.

"Hundreds of lives were taken because of your wrongdoing!" One by one, the people started to speak.

"Have mercy on us! And surrender!"

Instead of fighting and beating each other, the people worked together, to find the culprit.

"But that's impossible! Since no one went to his territory and stole his gold!" The mayor shouted, and everyone stopped.

"How did you know?" I asked, making everyone look at me.

"What?" The mayor was a little shaken when I said it.

"How did you know that there's gold in his territory?"

"S-since ancient times!" He nervously answered.

"There's no such thing written in the book." The count coldly looked at the mayor.

"An ancient beast used to come to this town long ago and bless the people there each day. He gave up his life in Alexio to live here because he was in love with this town. To make himself unfeared by humans, he created a home in the forest and covertly defended you from monsters and bandits. He's coming for you, town, until you give up and own up to your sins because you did something that cannot be forgiven."

a strong wind suddenly surrounded the mayor. Fearing that if they get involved, the ancient beast will kill them too, the people flee for their lives. The men of the count assisted the humans in leaving this place safely.

"You filthy human! You joined hands with those dirty humans and looted my place!" The ancient creature was so angry that everyone froze from their spot.

"Please forgive me! I have no other option! They steal our food and other necessities and sabotage the merchants we sent to the kingdom! If I didn't give the white orb that the ancient beast was holding, they threatened to kill the merchants!" The mayor bowed multiple times towards the ancient creature.

"...." But the creature didn't say anything.

"Please have mercy!" He continued bowing in front of the ancient creature.

This is too troublesome.

"Why didn't you inform me of this circumstance? The town is about to be destroyed by those bastards due to your negligence!" The ancient creature angrily said.

"...…"

"What are you trying to say, ancient beast? Who's coming?" The count looked shocked about the information he heard.

"They are from an organization that possessed a dark magic power." The ancient beast creature said.

"What is the name of that organization?" Count Lysanthir asked.

"*Shakes head* I don't know, but they seemed to be connected to the Disas continent." The ancient crature answered.

Disas? I had never heard of that continent before. I'll just ask Ellen what kind of continent Disas is.

"My lord, the reinforcements have arrived." A knight informed the count.

"Wither."

"Yes, master, I'll inform them."

"Bring the mayor with you," the count said.

"Then, if you excuse us," the butler went out while the knight was holding the mayor's collar and went out.

"...…"

"Then could you please explain to me the whole situation right now, ancient beast?" When I asked, the Count gave me a cold smile. I had chills running down my spine and down my neck.

"A long time ago, a group of individuals came to this town wearing black cloaks. They were warmly welcomed by everyone. They initially assisted humans by planting vegetables and fruits. They made a significant contribution as well when monsters attacked humans. The people were so grateful to them, and they told them about the history of this town. The residents of this town have grown suspicious of those individuals after months of their arrival. They leave as soon as the sun rises and return when it sets. Everyone started to have doubts about them, and the elders looked into it. The elders and the town knight went to their house to look for their belongings before they left at dawn. The elders were taken aback upon discovering a book full of dark magic spells. The elders came to me right away and asked for my assistance. I waited for those guys and killed them as soon as I found out the whole story. However, I was unaware that one of them had escaped and that they had been killing hundreds of people in this town over the years. Every day since the elders entered eternal sleep, they have caused harm to our place. I apologize profusely for accidentally hurting people. I was blinded by anger. I sealed half of my magic within that white orb, which is why it holds special significance for me."

"You mean this orb?" I lifted my left hand and showed it to him.

"Yes- wait! Where did you get that?!" The count and the ancient beast seemed shocked.

"The mayor gave them a fake one that's why they are coming back to get the real orb."

"You mean."

"Yes, the mayor substituted a similar orb for the white one that he had originally given. He pretended to be sorry for abandoning you and everyone else right away, because he was aware that he was being watched." I said

"...."

"He hid this at the back of the door." I walked in his direction and gave it to him.

"....."

"Here." He accepts it and places the orb on his chest. A bright light engulfs the place.

"My powers are back!" The ancient creature said happily, and his gaze landed on mine. His aura has become more powerful since he regained his power.

"Thank you so much."

"It's fine since you fully regained your power, it's your turn to protect this town." He escaped from here like the wind and helped the knights kill the cloak guys.

*Sigh* Is this the reason Ellen wants me to explore the entire continent because there are a lot of problems happening every day.
