Chapter 22: Monumental (???)

I hear the sound of broken glass crunching underneath soft skin. An uncomforting heat danced over me, cooking my decaying body as it drew closer. I turned my head to see IT.
A monumental being cast in shadow that stalked over the charred remains of my friends. IT’S body caused blood from the others it had killed to boil, flake, and harden. It was drenched in crimson, tall in stature, and seemed to produce a wickedly violent invisible aura.
I looked to see it’s face and saw the face of a man. It was normal with well-proportioned features. He face was set in a cold grimace of unreasoning distaste. His sheer movement felt unnatural, unreal,..... misplaced.
It was until I looked it’s eyes when truly understood what I was looking at. The light in its eyes was nonexistent. It looked human, but there was nothing human about it. If it had been human, it’s humanity had been scraped out.
What stood before me was nothing more than an empty shell. A husk void of nearly all emotion. What I was staring at.... was a monster.
