Chapter 87: Emerging Thoughts

I thought my heart would stop beating when the car stopped in front of the Packhouse. The way to the Pack was eerily silent. I couldn't even muster the motivation to answer Atlas with his questions about my well-being. The whole ride I was busy collecting my thoughts, recalling my training and remembering my oath. If I ever thought my past missions were hard, this tops it all.

In the main door of the Packhouse, Alpha Cedric and Luna Eva were patiently waiting for our arrival. I could tell from the Luna's face that she didn't have enough sleep because of the bags under her eyes. Alpha Cedric's face, on the other hand, was hard, unforgiving. I alighted from the car in a quick manner, making sure to bow my head to my leader while Chief Morgan approached them.
