Chapter 49: Chapter 49: At least they were talking

It took her a moment or two. She was unwinding with the alcohol. She elbowed herself up. 'That's good, coming from a ...' Sweat broke out. She licked her lips.

'Coming from a what?'

She fumbled off the couch.

'From a what?'

She made for the bathroom but he followed and blocked the doorway. 'What were you going to say?'

Giving up trying to force the door closed she went on bended knees to ineffectually search the vanity cupboard, clumsily sifting the shelves. 'Nothing,' she said, 'I don't know. Go away, I want to be sick.'

He wasn't convinced but closed the door.
