JAMES
Miri decided to leave most of her stuff because she was “coming right back, Jamie.” I hoped like hell she was right. Desi stayed in our flat while Dancer went to meet the cabbie. Miri and I took our time walking down the stairs - quietly, so we didn’t disturb Madame Belan. I set Miri’s bag on the next stair down and closed the difference between us until her back came up against the stairwell wall and our bodies were pressed together.
Even in the shadowy darkness of the stairwell, Miri’s eyes shone brightly. I allowed myself to get lost in them a moment until Miri sighed and whispered my name. I leaned my forehead against hers and breathed with her until all my emotions rushed up and out, and then I took Miri’s mouth in my own.
My hands rose to her cheeks where I cupped them, tilting her head upward and deepening my kiss. God, I loved her. I told her a thousand times through my mind, my body, my lips.
