“We need someone to work on the inside,” Desi said. She stood and faced the rest of the Council, but avoided making eye contact with Michael.
“Loki is paranoid,” Heimdall said. “He will know if we try to trick him.”
Desi grimaced. “I guess that’s why they call him the Trickster. But I am also his daughter and I -”
Odin stood, too. “I will not send you to him. You are not strong enough to battle against his will. He is the most stubborn, obstinate creature. I have had eons to teach him, and did everything in my power to raise him true, and yet you see what he has become. I will not let you be like him.”
Desi crossed behind Michael to stand beside Odin. She placed a hand on his shoulder. “Someone must go. Surely you can see it is true. Someone who can infiltrate his inner circle. Who can make themselves invaluable to him. Get close enough to take him out.”
