Chapter 53: Dragonspiral Tower
After going down a frozen slide much safer than it seemed, Touya exited the gym and headed straight to the pokemon center.
After resting for a moment and healing his pokemon, Touya left the pokemon center to meet Cheren in front of the gym which seemed to have an internal dilemma.
"Hey Cheren!" Touya said calling out to Cheren as he waved his hand.
Cheren didn't seem to notice Touya's presence and only seemed more and more immersed in his thoughts.
"Hey bud, are you okay?" Touya said touching Cheren's shoulder and shaking him a bit with concern.
Cheren managed to get out of his thoughts a bit exalted by Touya's touch.
"Ahhhh, it's just you Touya" Cheren said with a sigh of relief.
"Are you still overthinking?" Touya said with seriousness and concern.
"I've been talking to Bel and since we left Nuvema Town I feel... different" Cheren said thoughtfully as he looked at Touya.
"Since the talk with the champion Mirto, I can't get answers about my own thoughts, I have even wondered if the one who becomes strong is me or my pokemon" said Cheren overwhelmed by the amount of questions in his mind.
Touya heard what Cheren had to say and just as he was about to reply he felt someone was watching him.
'It's the same as before meeting the champion' Touya thought looking around suspiciously.
Cheren was going to ask about Touya's caution but was interrupted by Junco who came out the gym a bit annoyed.
"Who's there? Show yourself" Junco said with a cold and slightly creepy tone.
Suddenly the three ninjas of the shady trio appeared surrounding Touya, Cheren and Junco.
"I expected no less from the Icirrus city gym leader" said one of the ninjas with a calm mysterious tone.
"Our intention was to transmit a message only to Touya but we do not expect your intervention" said another of the ninjas with a little disappointment in himself.
"Mr. Touya for you" Touya said cracking his knuckles with a menacing aura around him and a malicious smile.
The third ninja seemed a bit nervous because of that, apparently he was the one who took the hit last time.
"That does not matter, Lord Ghechis sends you a message 'Go to the Dragonspiral Tower, there N is waiting for you'" said ninja 1 with calm and serious tone.
"The Dragonspiral Tower?! What relation do you have with it?!, Answer me!" Junco said upset and raising his voice for the first time.
The shady trio disappeared as quickly as they appeared leaving no trace of their escape.
"Tch, I have to go to the Dragonspiral Tower" Junco said with annoyance and then hurried towards the tower.
"I'll go too!" Cheren said, putting aside his thoughts momentarily.
Junco just nodded seriously at this and ran towards Dragonspiral Tower followed by Cheren.
"Aaaaand, they left me behind" Touya said and then followed them more calmly.
Before reaching the Tower, Touya met Professor Carrasco in front of its entrance, who quickly noticed Touya's arrival.
"It seems things are out of control huh?" Professor Carrasco said with a more serious attitude than normal.
"The recruits of the team plasma broke down a section of the wall and entered recently, being followed by Junco and Cheren" Professor Carrasco said seriously and without looking at Touya.
"You said that there lies a legendary pokemon right?" Touya said also with a serious tone.
"Ha ha! You remembered!, exactly young Touya there lies the legendary dragon type that awaits the one who pursues his ideals with conviction" Professor Carrasco said with his normal excited tone, taking all the seriousness out of the matter.
'I found it weird' Touya thought a little less tense due to the atmosphere.
"Go ahead young Touya, go after them and face your destiny!" Professor Carrasco said with great emotion.
"I'll do, Professor Carrasco" Touya said with determination and then walked towards the tower.
"At least that will make him less tense, I wonder what the team plasma is planning" Professor Carrasco said seriously and a little worried after Touya left.
Returning with Touya, he had already passed through a bridge made by the team plasma and then crossed a large hole in one of the pillars.
Upon entering, Touya was able to find a strange scene, which seemed to be a very ancient temple with half of it under water.
The temple exuded a mystical and mysterious aura, plus it seemed to contain thousands of memories of past glories.
"I guess I'll have to go up" Touya said seeing some stairs in the distance.
As he climbed the first step, a great tremor shook the entire tower causing some dust and small rocks to fall from the ceiling and Touya lost his balance a bit.
"The best thing would be not to tell this to mom, if she knows that I got involved in something like this it won't be pretty" Touya said having a little chill at the thought of it and hurrying his steps.
After climbing the stairs, Touya found some columns conveniently placed as a way to get to the other side of the room.
"I'm not going to comment on anything, better not complain" said Touya shrugging his shoulders and going through the columns trying not to fall.
After this and jumping a bit in a strange spiral-shaped room to reach the next floor, Touya found Junco and Cheren fighting with three recruits from the team plasma each.
"Touya! We are already dealing with these recruits, come up before something worse happens" Cheren said a little excited and making Serperior catch the recruits' pokemon.
Junco for his part fought alongside Beartic with three other recruits using aqua jet.
Touya rushed up the stairs to the next floor only to be stopped by four more recruits and his pokemon like Liepard and Watchog blocking the way.
'Tch, I don't have time for this' Touya thought in annoyance and hurriedly looking for a pokeball.
"Emboar use flame charge" said a female voice suddenly.
A large pokemon with the appearance of a fighter rammed all the pokemon of the recruits causing them to step aside.
Touya looked back a bit confused and could see Bel with a big smile.
"Hello Touya!, now I can help you!" Bel said proudly and making way for Touya with Emboar.
Touya just nodded with a smile and ran to the next floor.
"Come on friend, we have to take revenge for the last time" Bel said seriously as she looked at the recruits.
"Emboar!" Emboar said excitedly and ready for battle.
After climbing the stairs and going through a somewhat complicated area, Touya climbed two more floors and just as he was going to continue running there was another tremor.
"I have to hurry" Touya said noticing how the tower's structure didn't seem very stable.
"GGRROOAAARRGGHH!!!" a great and imposing roar was heard through the entire tower causing Touya to cover his ears.
"Apparently the legend was true" Touya said with concern and following his path.
And to Touya's bad luck, about 4 recruits from the team plasma together with a sage noticed his presence quickly.
"Unheard of! How have you come so far?!, recruits take care of him" said the sage, very upset by the presence of Touya.
"Yes sir!" said the 4 recruits surrounding Touya with his pokemon.
"It will be a pleasure to kick your butts" Touya said with sweat and a nervous smile taking out two pokeballs.
