Chapter 56: She Really Needed To Step Up Her Game

Percy's eyes uncharacteristically filled with tears and he turned away so the older man wouldn't see him cry. This was going to work. This had to work!

"No need to thank me! Being a part of this research is the most exciting thing I've done in years. You have to tell me how it all turns out come Monday," Dr. Reese replied with an obvious smile in his voice. "You should probably get going before my wife gets here though. She'll be more than a little confused to see you."

"Right. I'll head out now. I hope you have a speedy recovery."

Percy put his equipment back into his backpack and headed home after waving goodbye. If this worked, he would owe the professor for the rest of his life.

He thought about how to trick Penelope into going to the hospital on the way home. Making contact with the other side had wiped his exhaustion away and his mind was racing at the speed of light.
