Chapter 125: Meeting Director Clavell
"It's nice to see you again, Professor Oak.", Lillie also said, greeting him.
"We aren't interrupting something are we?", I asked.
"It's mostly over. But it wouldn't hurt to introduce you guys.", Professor Oak answered.
"Introduce us?", I blinked for a moment. When I said that, Lillie and I saw the white haired man who seemed to be dressed in a fancy suit, stand up from his chair. This aged man slowly walked toward us, only to arrive next to Professor Oak.
"You must be that grandson of Professor Oak's. The famous Little Professor. It is nice to meet you like this, even if it isn't quite in person.", Director Clavell said, revealing a smile as he spoke out to us.
"You know me?", I asked, I have not seen this person. But seeing this aged man appear this way, he must be someone, right?
"Hoho, how could I not? Your thesis on how Pokemon behave depending on how they're raised or where they grow up in their habitats is quite remarkable in the research field. Not only that but you were one of the youngest to become a Professor as of late.", The aged man said, giving me acknowledgement.
Were Pokemon Natures really that big of a hit when I submitted that thesis?
Thinking that, I scratched my cheek again, only to see him continue to speak.
"But where are my manners? You can call me Director Clavell. I run the Uva Academy here in the Paldea region. We're currently in my office, actually.", Director Clavell said as he introduced himself to us. Surprise reached our eyes as we finally learned who this man was.
"Paldea region...Didn't you say you were going there, Professor Oak?", Lillie asked as she blinked her eyes.
"I sure am here, in fact. Just got off the plane not too long ago. Professor Sycamore is here as well.", Professor Oak said, only for us to blink at the third figure further in the back. Seeing the little scruffs of hair on his chin, I immediately knew this was Professor Sycamore.
"It's nice to see you again, Professor Itsuki. The data that you've been sending me with your mega ring has been quite helpful. It sounds like you've been fortuitous already.", Professor Sycamore said.
"A mega ring? So he's one of your recipients then. That is quite nice if I must say so myself.", Director Clavell said, musing as he heard that.
"Umm...", Liko tried to interrupt. Seeing as the whole conversation was continuing without her with a few influential figures in the room, her eyes started to spin a bit, unable to keep up with them.
"Oh, right. Weren't you going to ask your grandson, Professor Oak?", Director Clavell asked, only to look back at Liko. It was only now that I saw a girl in her early teens further into the back, sporting lush black short hair. It seems Lillie also took notice of her.
"Ask me what?", I decided to ask, feeling interested in what Director Clavell said.
"Well, you see, Liko here has been approved to study abroad for the remainder of her term this year. She'll be attending Indigo Academy in Viridian City, but on top of that, she'll be initiating a Treasure Hunt, and journey out in Kanto. Don't you worry though, both Director Clavell here approved it and it was approved by the Indigo League as well. She's still early to partake in a full journey, but she'll be able to attend the Indigo League, should she earn all the badges, haha!", Professor Oak declared, causing surprise to reach our eyes again.
"So that was the case. You must be a student here in Uva then. It's nice to meet you, Liko.", I said, seeing the black haired girl walk closer to the screen.
"Yes. I hear you are going to pick me up when I arrive in Kanto?", Liko asked as she blinked her eyes at us. I couldn't help but shift my head back to Professor Oak when I heard that.
"So that's the part you failed to mention eh, Gramps?", I said, retorting him while squinting my eyes a bit.
"Hoho, don't take it the wrong way, Itsuki. I was going to get to that part next. It's not like doing this isn't granting you any favors either. I told Director Clavell here I had a condition if you were to pick up Liko back in Viridian city.", Professor Oak said, explaining the situation to us.
"A condition, huh, what is it?", I asked with interest.
"We were about to get to that part, actually, before you dropped in on this meeting. You two haven't seen Paldea Pokemon yet, have you?", Director Clavell asked with interest as well.
"Paldea Pokemon? Can't say for sure. We did come across something a bit unexpected.", Lillie answered, only to become more confused herself. Hearing that, Director Clavell blinked his eyes, only to cause me to nod my head.
"That's actually why we wanted to talk to you about, Gramps. Have you ever seen a black Tauros before?", I decided to ask, which caused Professor Oak to blink.
"A black Tauros?", Professor Oak wondered if he had seen something along those lines. Yet as he began to think, we saw Director Clavell speak out to us.
"A black Tauros...you wouldn't have a video of it, would you, Professor Itsuki?", Director Clavell decided to ask. I nodded my head in confirmation. I moved my Pokedex around for a bit. They saw that we were in a wild area of sorts. Professor Oak could only guess it was the Safari Zone. As I zoomed in on my camera, it showed a clearer picture of a few black Tauros, each sporting red and blue spots on their manes respectively.
"There's no doubt about it now. That's definitely a Paldean Tauros. But how on earth did they wander all the way to Kanto?", Director Clavell said, as he was unsure himself.
"Lillie and I aren't sure either. It's possible they could have migrated all the way here to the Safari Zone, or it could be that mister's story is starting to become more likely. Oh Kaiser says hi, Gramps.", I said, only to look back at Professor Oak again. Hearing that name, Professor Oak laughed a bit.
"Hoho, now there's a name I haven't heard in ages. You two are definitely in the Safari Zone alright. Have there been any other abnormalities or is it just these Paldean Tauros?", Professor Oak asked.
"We haven't seen anything else for the moment, but we'll keep an eye out. We just wanted to inform you, Gramps. We are thinking of catching a couple of Paldean Tauros to add to our team. But I didn't think we'd get to meet the Director of Uva Academy all the way in Paldea. Oh, and it is nice to see you again, Professor Sycamore. I'll definitely continue to use the mega ring as we do our back half of the Kanto region. But I guess those plans might be interrupted for a bit. When did you say your flight was? It was Liko, right?", I asked, looking back at the black haired girl.
"That's right. I do apologize for taking some of your time for this, Professor. I hope I'm not intruding too much. The Director said the flight leaves tomorrow morning, so the plane will probably be arriving in Kanto in the evening or the next day.", Liko said, feeling a bit apologetic.
"So soon?", I retorted, raising my eyes again.
"Yes. But back to what I was trying to point out earlier, apart from that matter of the Paldean Tauros, you haven't come across any Paldean Pokemon yet, have you, Itsuki?", Professor Oak asked me, to which I shook my head.
"Can't say that I have. But the way you're going with this don't tell me...", I began to say as anticipation appeared in my eyes.
"Hoho, looks like even the Little Professor is eager to see what kind of Pokemon our students start with to go out on their Treasure Hunt. Lady Liko here was going to pick out her starting Pokemon to use as she travels around Kanto. How about it, Professor Itsuki? Are you up for choosing one as well?", Director Clavell asked with interest.
"You mean it?", I asked, feeling surprised when I heard that.
"Consider it an advanced payment for making sure Liko here makes it to Indigo Academy. And if you want, I could have the girl beside you receive the last one. But wasn't there a third person with you two?", Director Clavell wondered.
Hearing him say that, Lillie and I looked at each other. The four then saw us change our gazes over to where the other Tauros in the background were. We soon heard a laughter reach out ears, only to see Serena's figure pop up out in the open, but she wasn't alone. A green pale colored Tauros could be seen with her, and in fact she was currently riding on top of it...
Well, it looks like over on Serena's end, she managed to catch what she went to go find, and it was the sole shiny Tauros, no less.
