Jake smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I know and I’m glad. I couldn’t have faced it if you had turned against me.”
She put her other hand on top of his. “I never would have.”
Chelsea moved closer to him and he hooked his hand around her head and pulled her into a kiss. It wasn’t the steamy, passionate kind. Instead it felt like coming home after a long trip.
Jake tugged her onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her. The kiss heated up.
“Oh, Chelsea, I missed you.”
She streaked kisses down his neck. His hands reached under her shirt. His hands danced across her skin, lighting fires as they went.
“Jake,” she whispered.
He pulled away, gently and her body felt the loss instantly.
He stood, blew out the candles, and scooped her up with him. He strode out of the kitchen like a man with a purpose. Placing her on his bed, he kissed her again.
Chelsea tugged at her shorts, while he relieved her of her top.
