“Let’s be strong…” This did not last long enough, for the death toll increased as the famine increased.

The disease spread, with only a few surviving in the middle of it. The villagers abandoned the sick in one area with only a few workers in the middle of the single houses. They are dumped quickly in the death house. The death houses are marked as the place where families died of the disease.

“What is going on here?” One of the women working with Harld panicked as she cleaned the face of a vomiting child.

“We just have to keep on trying. There is no cure.” Harld passed the bowl of stale porridge to her.

His eyes were sunken, and he had the mark of red spots on his cheek. Harld did not go back home since that day. He went thinner from the constant starvation. There has been an increase in the number of sick people these days. There were people on the floor and the ones who could not make space. They were set up with makeshift tents on the ground.
