Chapter 36: I Am Vampire
Lijun looked at the dead body and murmured angrily "They think, they can outnumber us".
But Without seeing Yanmei's shocking face Lijun said "You must be afraid of me now, miss. Yanmei." He waited for her reaction.
Finally, she asked, "who are you?"
He turned and look at her, his lips curve "wrong question miss Yanmei". After seeing her puzzled look he continued " you should ask 'What are you?' instead of 'who are you?'"
What happened tonight was what he'd been warning his sister about this whole time. Except it had been him who had exposed his clan. He still waited for her reaction.
Then he heard her voice "Are you a Werewolf too?"
' Werewolf! is she really think of me a filthy creature? But I can't blame her. Maybe she has no idea that vampires live among humans. And she knows about werewolf because this werewolf brag about his clan. Those filthy dogs are always brag about their clan and their power. I don't understand what is in their clan to brag about and I highly doubt they have any power except shape shifting' he thought.
He looked at the dead body with despise gaze "Do I look like a filthy dog?" She gave him an irritating look and He grinned ear to ear. He loves to irritate her. He just hopes that after revealing the truth, She will not change. He liked her the way she is.
He knew she saw what he did and there was no way to change it.
He took a deep breath and said "I am a vampire," She was shocked and look at him unblinking.
He can gave all of his money to know what was in her mind right now.
After sometime he asked "Are you still in shock?"
Because he was scarred that she will go crazy. Because for humans they were only in books or films. They didn't know that vampires live among them. They can't recognize one. Humans and vampires work together. Maybe both of them were friends too like Yanmei and Nixxi or Yanmei and him.
She blinked and look at him. "You are a vampire?"
It's not a question..... not really.
"No" his words puzzled her. He chuckled after seeing her reaction. He said the truth. He was not an ordinary vampire.
"I am not only a vampire, but I am also a Vampire king" he looked at the dead body again, after that, he looked at her " And you'r welcome",
She didn't need to thank him for saving her life. He did it anyway. And it's not because he hated werewolves and can't leave any opportunity to kill them. And it's not because she was Nixxi's friend and Nixxi care for a lot. It's because of his selfish reason and he refused to accept those selfish reasons.
"I didn't know that Vampires are real,"Her small voice bring back him from his thoughts.
Then something struck in him and he asked "So, you knew about werewolves? "
She immediately said "No, I don't know anything about Vampires and Werewolves".
"Humans don't know about us and I prefer that way" he said with serious expression.
"I'll never tell anyone" she tried to convince him.
He stared at her and said with serious tone "I know". Because that's the truth. The situation was so messed up. He never said any humans about his identity. And that was the rule he made. And he can't spare anyone who didn't obey this rule. But now he was the one who broke his own rule.
But then he asked "Werewolves don't attack humans. Then why did he attack you?"
She looked away from him and shallow "I don't know, I don't know anything, he attacked me suddenly and I" she can't complete the sentence.
Looked at her state he hugged her "shhh, it's okay. it's over now. Let's go from here" he kissed her forehead.
"I was right, you are a strong woman miss Yanmei" he murmured. Well, it's a truth she reacted this situation better that he thought. He knew humans were paranoid by nature they always afraid of things they can't understand. But not Yanmei... not his kitten. She was a strong woman. Who knew about his identity but didn't run away far away from him. And in that moment he knew he can trust her.
And for the first time he wanted to tell someone everything. Not someone... it's her... only her.
"Sit down, Yanmei."
"Don't tell me what to do!" she fired back. There was his Kitten. He let out a sigh of relief. If she could yell at him, she wasn't as afraid as he'd feared. They might just make it through this shit storm.
He stood fluidly, keeping his arms at his sides while he ordered coldly "Sit. Down."
Yanmei stared at him. Then She sat down. And saluted him.
She literally just saluted him with her middle finger.
Wow. How could he not appreciate that kind of backbone? He grinned even wider. This girl could slay me if he let her.
He took a deep breath and looked at her "I am going to tell you a story".
She looked at him with amazed face "You are going to tell me a story?"
He nodded "I told you I am a vampire King. And yes, all vampires live among humans. We look like humans and that's why you guys can't recognize us".
He didn't waited for her reaction, he continued "We look like humans because once upon a time we were also humans".
"I know that. I saw it in lots of books" She said excitedly.
"This is not a book Yanmei. It's real life and we exist in real life".
"I can see that" she murmured.
He ignored her comment and continued "Any human can be a vampire if they drink vampire's blood and vampire bite them. If any vampire does that to any human, they'll become a vampire".
She looked at him puzzled "So, you drank a vampire blood and he bite you. Then you died. And that's how you become a vampire?"
"You read too many books kitten" he teased.
She rolled her eyes "Don't tease me about my books. The authors maybe research about you guys before write novel. I can be wrong about it" she looked at his eyes "I never meet any vampire before".
He shook his head "No Kitten, you are right. Vampires are dead creature. No one can turn into a vampire if he or she is still alive".
She knew all vampires were dead. But she can't dare to think of him dead.
She hesitated "Is that mean you are dead too?"
A sad smile appeared on his lip but he nodded.
She didn't know what to say "What? But how? Nixxi too?"
She can't complete her sentence. He didn't talk about his and his family's death. But for some weird reason he wanted to tell her everything.
"We were killed" he stared at the ground.
"Who killed you? Another vampire?" it's look like she wanted to kill that vampire who hurt him and his family.
But he shook his head "No. A witch killed us".
"A witch?" she never met any witches. She didn't know witches are real like she didn't know that vampires are real.
He nodded.
"Who?" anger appeared on her face.
He stared at her eyes and replied "My mother".
