Chapter 21: Chapter 21 : Safe from him
"Did I actually trouble myself while giving her this request ?" Prince Ethan thought.
While Marlin was constantly laughing at the opportunity given to her ;The prince , who was in a confused state of mind , because it was a unique request, who never asked him something just like this , he still waiting impatiently to see that if she relaxes for more, but no, that was her sincere request.
"So , Have you agreed,your highness ?",Marlin asked .
He was being kind of amused, seeing her asking this question; when he was about to open his mouth to answer. Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
*knock knock*
"Who is it right now?" , Prince Ethan asked.
"It's me ; brother ! Prince Aiden at your service ....can I come inside ,brother ?" , he asked
"Wait for a while....", prince Ethan said .
Prince Ethan then looked at Marlin told her that he will give her answer later . Marlin was about to stop him from going because the conversation between them was very small and she wanted to talk more with him, but in the end he didn't listen and went for the door.
After opening up a little bit of the door picture to see if it's actually his brother or not but it was actually him he smiled at him . He asked , "What's the matter?"
It's nothing, "why are you here brother?", Prince Ethan asked with a stern look.
Well, I was here to ask you about something . While saying that he looked behind him ; a certain person sitting on the bed, which is why he came here in the first place to actually see who is a certain person whose brother is taking care of so seriously in the first place. Rumours were roaming inside the palace so he heard .
Prince Ethan actually saw the motive behind Prince Aiden coming here, he knew his brother became interested in the person who is being taken care of ; which is not actually good, he knows his brother cares for him about this one particular thing, his brother often does the most which he dislikes.
"Brother, how are things going at the Imperial Palace right now is it alright? should I come and help?", he asked.
"No ,no it's alright.....there's nothing going on recently", he replied.
"Is that so that's good to hear . If you want to talk, let's go somewhere shall we?", Ethan smiled.
Prince Aiden smiled and nodded well ; understanding that Prince Ethan doesn't want him to actually see the girl who is hiding . He thought-
"It's better not to be curious for now we have plenty of opportunities to meet this noble lady who got my brothers attention....", he laughed silently, well, thinking of that . Then the brothers went away, talking about work at the Imperial Palace.
Lanier looked at them, going away and close the doors . He heaved a sigh , it's so bothersome and more dangerous to think that you have got Prince Aiden's attention. He told all of these while looking at Marlin.
"Why ...can you tell me sir?", Marlene requested Lanier to tell him the reason.
Lanier actually trusted Marlin , because She actually risked her life to save Prince Ethan, so he kind of told the story of those brothers, and why Prince Ethan doesn't want Prince Aiden to know about Marlin.
"Even though the brothers care for each other, but there's one thing he doesn't like about Prince Aiden
that is he has a unique interest to steal something which is belonged Ethan...." , he told.
"What ?? How can brothers do that to each other?"
"Not each other, it's only prince Ethan. But his highness has the heart to actually give it to him even though if it's his precious thing also."
Marlin smiled, and said "yes, he's kind and that's what I actually like about Him...." , she kind of blushed.
"So basically what I'm scared about, is that if he saw that Prince Ethan like you or something he might try to gain your attention by many ways, and in the end, he will steal you from him, and what that's what will make him superior to him.....", Lanier explained.
"That's really awful . I keep getting the vibe That he isn't a nice person to be really honest. It feels like he's a totally different person from what people know...", Marlin started adding her words.
Shilia brought some food for Marlin. She actually heard the entire conversation for a while saying that
Nothing sure yet, but you shouldn't judge the brothers so easily because they love each other.
Lanier told the same thing . He told to forget about Prince Aiden for now . We have to more focus on Prince Mathis because he's ascending the throne and Prince Ethan doesn't want to be the king but the empress and his son thinks that he wants to become the king and want to become a thorn in their path ; that's why assassination attempts comes frequently.
Marlene crumbled at the thought of this . She felt pity towards Prince Ethan. She remembered her grandmothers words that how he was going through, so many struggles during his childhood, and she was right. He was suffering a lot more, then she would imagine....
Marlin didn't even realise her tears started flowing back again . Lanier and Shilia looked at each other, understanding that she was very sorry for his highness
"I want to make him happy. He really deserves to be happy. He really do .
Lanier Smiles by looking at the Marlin and saying if it's my lady I'm sure you can do it. I'm getting the gut feeling that you can understand his Highness very well. After the concubine dies The prince have been very upset since then; he really doesn't wish for his own happiness honestly. His whole life had been with thought of revenge nothing more.....
Marlin was determined to make him happy, and which is for his happiness, even though, if it's not her who will be his destined , she'll still be by his side-
Meanwhile Ethan was talking about the internal affairs of the imperial palace with prince Aiden. They didn't have any weird conversation about Marlin or any other thing that would lead to dispute. So the prince thought it wasn't very serious or maybe he wasn't very interested.
"Brother....", then give a look to Prince Ethan.
Finally Ethan thought, maybe he's going to ask the question now . He wasn't in the situation, where what could be the most beneficial answer would be but he had to be prepared for this .
But fortunately and also unfortunately Prince Mathis and his mother entered the room where do they were talking . They both bowed to the empress.
"We greet the mother of the Empire and the future emperor of the Empire...!" still bowing until she tells them to stand up.
"Please raise your heads my dear princes..", the empress ordered.
Prince Mathis wanted to talk with Prince Ethan alone, so he told them to excuse them. Then empress agreed, so they leave them alone . Prince Aiden was kind of pissed by the fact that he wasn't included in the chat, but he still gave an awkward smile before leaving them alone.
"Damn, I still feel scared Seeing Prince Aiden's face....
His face and eyes are still so scary, even though you're twins still, you're so different", prince Mathis sulked.
"I can be scary too your highness....", Prince Ethan answered with a bold look.
Well, yes, you can be a scary, I know you're very soft hearted too even towards the commoners", he smiled.
"Enough with the flattery your highness... tell me what's the main reason you brought me here"
"Oh I was going to tell that to you, the assassination attempts beforehand I heard from father when he call us ; it was the meeting after you left so we heard that there are prisoners now and they are to be interrogated-
"Have you already heard?", he asked.
"Yes"
Suddenly Lanier burst in shouting to Prince Ethan that
Your highness, it's an emergency....the prisoners!!
The prisoners are dead in their cells!!
