Chapter 342: Useless and fleeting

The renewed hope in his heart died the moment when he saw how terribly Aleister seemed to be suffering. 

''It is not possible,'' As if Rezeph could read the thoughts in Duke Maverick's mind, he spoke up, ''Aleister does not have any ability to revive the dead. It is against the nature. What he is doing right now, comes with a price that he has to pay later.'' 

''I…'' Duke Maverick's eyes moistened up as he looked at his nephew who was bruised and bloodied, seemingly hanging by a breath as he stood there mid-air. An intense golden glow was circling around him and the sight of the man seemed to be majestic yet all that glory did not hide the pain he was enduring, ''I can see the price that he is paying.'' 

Rezeph glanced at the man's innocent face and sighed. Despite his unwillingness to reveal the truth, he spoke up, ''This is not the price. This is the punishment.'' 

''What?" Duke Maverick's eyes widened.
