Chapter 69: Living Nightmare (1)

A sense of guilt overwhelmed Bai Shuyin. How was she going to tell him? That this would be the last time she opened her eyes? He looked so hopeful and… and…

Bai Shuyin didn't move when Wu Jiangfeng arranged her until she was lying on her back. She just laid there bonelessly, with body still shaking and heavy breaths. 

Once again she felt him caressing her cheeks, wiping away traces of tears on his face before he brushed his knuckles so softly against her cheekbones. It was so featherly light that it tickled her. 

Even with her eyes closed, she could feel him coming closer but stopped when she felt his face only an inch away from her face. A very brief and small touch landed on her forehead before pulling away and one hand slipped under her back, while the other under her knees. 

"Let's get you out of here," Wu Jiangfeng said as he picked Bai Shuyin up. "You will be safe, I promise."
