Chapter 2: (Chapter two.)
Out of habit, Sara's hand hovered around her black lightsaber, which laid tucked against her side, carefully concealed from prying eyes. Though a lightsaber might have been a common thing to see on Coruscsnt a century ago, it could only cause her trouble now. Luckily, there weren't any people around to scrutinize her, for the street she had turned onto was deserted, except for herself. The Jedi Temple- or rather, what was left of it- finally came into view, and she stopped to take in her surroundings. That little bit of bohemian in her demanded it.
The facade of the ziggurat was intact but in disrepair, showing signs of years of neglect. The tower's were crumbling, huge crack's visible in the stone, the spies broken off at odd angles- from an aerial attack, she guessed. Two of the tower's were gone entirely. The stone steps- which she was certain were not a part of the original building- offered an invitation to enter and peered into a murky, bloody history. Sara could imagine her predecessors passing underneath the imposing archway, devoted followers who never truly knew who or why they served. They might have had blind faith, but the home of the Jedi could barely be considered a temple.
Brushing away her thoughts, Sara took the steps two at a time and didn't pause to gaze at the crumbling columns that barely supported the structure. She gazed around the atrium of the temple, blinking under her eyes adjusted to the darkness, and then plunged into the shadows.
