Chapter 45: Chapter V: The Conclave

It was a great day for the night empire. My Honeymoon had ended, and the directions I left for Shane to carry out were nearing completion. While troops were discretely moving and cleaning the Empire of resources, Elders were collecting nonwarriors and healthy cultivators with certain beauty and talents.

All this was done in preparation for the long-awaited ascension I promised for clans long ago. However, I had yet to officially announce our ascension. The Elders and top-ranking officers considered this significant recruitment as another large investment. Though resources were dwindling, we had more than enough to support cultivators beneath Martial Foundation. The decreasing resources also explained the scouring of the Deep South.
