Chapter 11: Frozen In Place
Shawn found himself in his room, he turned his head and looked around, there seem to be nothing special about his room but he felt something was off, there is a complete absence of sound inside his room, the sound of automobiles is completely absent as if it is deserted outside.
Shawn tried to listen but he couldn't, he felt something is off so he woke up from his bed and looked around once again and carefully observed his surrounding, after careful observation he finally noticed something and when he did he was stunned, shocked out of his mind.
He looked at the tiny dust particles that were entering his room through the window and are being highlighted by the sunlight but to his surprise, the dust particles seem to be frozen in place, there seem to be no movement at all, he carefully circled around the dust particles to see if they are attached to something or no but he couldn't find anything that could hold these particles in place.
He touched them with his finger and saw them slowly moving after his touch, he felt something was weird so he started to look around his room again, he looked at the digital clock next to his bed and noticed that the digits have not changed for quite a while, he then looked at the analog clock on the wall and noticed that the second's hand is not moving.
He wondered if the clock has stopped working but he didn't dwell on it too much, to clear his doubt once and for all he walked towards the window and looked outside and to his surprise everything was frozen in time.
The cars and bikes are not moving, the smoke coming out from their exhaust is also frozen in place, people who are walking down the street are also frozen, some of them have one of their legs up in the air as they continued to walk forward, some had their eyes attached to their phone while others were looking at each other and seem to be talking but their mouths are open.
It was as if Shawn is looking at a very realistic 3d image.
'What is happening?' He questioned himself and waited for a few seconds and noticed something, it was not that these things were frozen in time but they were moving very slowly, he noticed the wheels of the vehicles moving at an extremely slow phase, he could see the foot of people descending on the ground.
Everything was moving very slowly, he couldn't believe his eyes. Shawn started to panic a little as he had no answer for his current situation, but suddenly his ears got bombarded with multiple sounds at the same time.
The engine roars of the vehicles, the horns, the chattering of people, everything hit him and he suddenly woke up.
Waking up from his bed, he pressed his forehead as he felt a slight sting.
"Fuck it was all a dream, thank god!" He sighed and looked outside, the sky is covered in clouds and the cloud is orange in color indicating that it is already evening. 'But why did that dream feel so realistic?' He thought and got off his bed and headed downstairs.
'Something has happened to me, but what? It is because of the accident?' Shawn questioned himself as he walked out of his room and headed downstairs, he noticed that his mother was not home, he walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and noticed there was nothing edible inside, he saw some frozen pizza box and took one out to heat it up in the microwave to eat.
He turned on the tv, took out a can of cola, and sat down to enjoy his dinner for tonight, he doesn't know when his mother is going to come back, she might not even come back tonight.
Once he was done eating, he cleaned after himself and went for a jog, on his jog he encountered nothing different, everything was the same, the crowded streets, people coming back from their work, students coming back from their classes, the roads filled with vehicles, everything was the same and he was glad.
He thought that he spent all of his life in that bed of the hospital, he was very thankful that it was just his unconscious mind playing with him and nothing else, everything is the same as it should be, he didn't like big changes.
On his way back to his house, he visited his favorite cafe and sat down to drink something, he looked through his social media to see what happened during the time he was in a coma, he saw that people are still discussing the super terrorist and the assassin who was hired to take his life.
People wanted to know who this assassin was but the world governments made sure to keep the assassin's identity private, the people praised the governments for hiring this assassin to do the job.
Shawn smirked seeing how the people praised the governments, these were the same people who blamed the world governments when they sent Omni Guardian to his death bed. When Omni Guardian was killed people started to riot in the streets and asked for the world governments to disband, they were angry because the person who protected their world from several threats died because of their judgment but now they forgot everything and are praising the government for finally putting an end to the most dangerous terrorist in the world.
Many people also created multiple web pages about the secret assassin who killed the terrorist, they started to discuss what kind of person this assassin was, was the assassin a male or a female, and what kind of power did they possess for them to be able to kill the super terrorist who could kill someone with just a stare.
Shawn spent some time in the forum and stopped looking, he got bored very soon as no one came up with anything interesting, every theory was predictable and bland.
He put away his phone, drank his coffee, and went back to his house.
