Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Introduction to the Play Cabin

In the kitchen, Blake retrieved a small soft-sided cooler and set it on the counter. He layered ice on the bottom of the cooler, and on top of the ice he added a small bottle of orange juice, a plastic container of cubed Swiss and Monterey Jack cheese, and some fresh strawberries. Into the empty duffel, he placed a small throw blanket, a jar of cashews, a few protein bars, and some cocoa mix.

Then he fed Bear, making sure the dog had plenty to eat. He’d be remaining there at the lodge while Blake and Shasta went to the play cabin for the night. Blake left him overnight every once in a while. Normally, Jackie and the kids were there to see to him, but with the doggie door he’d installed a few months back, Bear had access to inside and outside as much as he pleased. Besides, they’d be back in the morning.
