If Nolan did not even recognize his own nephew, it was either because he had not met him before, or it had been a while since he saw him. When Kyran said someone 'trapped' him before 'suggesting' to talk, Cade was already convinced that someone was Nolan. The main reason was his familiarity with the latter's character.
