Chapter 25: The First Sign Of Danger (Mature Content)
As the meetings concluded at precisely 4 p.m., Soohyun groaned as he tries to relax the joints on his neck after a long day. On the bright side, everything needed is accomplished and done for the company's merge. And still, one thing is the same when Soohyun couldn't keep his eyes off JiU even when she wasn't talking. Then when it was his turn to take the stand to speak, his eyes will always land on JiU, who will automatically avoid making eye contact with him.
JiU, herself, became slightly annoyed when she would catch Soohyun's eyes on her. The way he looked at her may look different than the look usual men would throw at her. Like she was some kind of meal, they're waiting to devour, which was why she never liked sticking in a lot of crowds. However, things are quite different concerning Soohyun. The way he looks at her differs from how most men would look at her. One thing she does recognize from his eyes is that they show admiration towards her instead of a lust-filled gaze. She felt naked in his eyes.
As soon as everyone leaves, it was only JiU and Soohyun left in the meeting room. Either one made a sound as they are about to go as well. "It was great to see you, today, upfront," Soohyun begins, "Your presentation was flawless just like your name... Wait, I mean umm, you're one of the most influential women in the world for nothing... I mean they didn't call you that for anything... Yeah, that's what I meant to say."
For the first time meeting her, JiU giggled in front of Soohyun. Involuntarily so. But she caught herself just as quick and proceeded to compose herself with a response to his statement, "Thank you, Soohyun-ssi. I guess you're more than just a handsome face." In truth, she finds his flustered speech cute.
"So, you think I'm handsome?" Soohyun caught her last sentence when she didn't. And a smile crept onto his face.
Oh, shoot, JiU bit her lower lip upon realizing her slip up. "Have a good one, Soohyun-ssi," JiU rushed her heels out the meeting room only to have Soohyun tail her.
"Did I... Hear that, right?" Soohyun with a giddy smile plastered on his face.
"Hear what?" JiU feigned a response as she goes inside her office, still with Soohyun hot on her heels.
"You just called me handsome, " Soohyun leans back against the doorway and keeping that smug on his face.
"You heard wrong, " JiU finds herself flustered this time, and she isn't about to show it. She hides her facial expressions by busily cleaning her desk and gathering her belongings
"Alright, you might deny it, but I know what I heard, " he wags a playful finger her way, "And my response is that I am honored to have a beautiful lady such as you, complimenting me that way."
Before JiU could find the man at where he stands, he's already gone from the door. Unexpectedly, a smile carved itself on her face. "Ah... That smile IS as gorgeous as people say," Soohyun's comment made JiU yelped after reappearing from behind the door.
"Kim Soohyun-ssi!" She exclaimed in shock, but it made Soohyun chuckle all the more.
"Have a good one JiU-ssi," Soohyun states calmly, and stepping away from the door.
JiU bit her lower lip and shakes her head after her slip up to the man she's been trying to avoid. But things are swimming in a whole different lake when she accidentally complimented him on how he looks. Nice one, JiU.
Soohyun finds himself smiling a little too wide after the brief yet memorable exchange with JiU. She might deny it, but I think she got the hots for me, I'm sure, Soohyun grinned confidently at the thought.
"You know?" Gray draped an arm on his best friend's shoulder, causing the latter to flinch in surprise.
"Yah! What the heck, man?" Soohyun elbowed his best friend and pressed on the elevator door, "And what are you on about?"
Gray laughed in triumph at his victory. "Well, I haven't seen you smile like that in years," Gray made a circular motion in front of Soohyun's face, "The last time was when.."
"No, we don't need to go there," Soohyun warns as he enters the elevator, "And what you just saw was temporary."
Gray lifts both arms in surrender. "I'm just saying man; it's nice seeing my bud smiling like that for once," Gray joins Soohyun into the elevator.
Soohyun does agree more than he could admit. He never smiled like that ever since his ex. But those thoughts are briefly just as quick as it appeared. Soohyun's ex had taken everything with her when she left Korea with his heart.
"So, what's with you and Tiffany-ssi?" Soohyun, not one to lose, poked a little at his best friend.
"What? What are you talking about?" Gray fails to keep a straight face and tries to look the other way.
"Right..." Soohyun dragged on and nudged his best friend. "Hey, let me know how it goes."
"Yah! There's nothing..." Gray's tone, interrupted as the elevator doors close after Soohyun arrives at his destination.
Soohyun twirls his car keys in his finger as he heads for his car. He called on Yoochun to go home early since he wants to drive alone for once. And with a few calls made, his favorite car is waiting at the VIP parking section, his keys delivered onto his table. Then just as he was about to unlock his car door, JiU's car pulled over several feet across the elevator section. And Soohyun is just several steps away from the van. A white van fit for a CEO.
Soohyun soon sees JiU exiting the elevator with her assistant and best friend, Tiffany. But Tiffany gestures JiU to go on ahead first since; it appears, she's got a phone call. I can bet that it's Gray, Soohyun chuckled. Soohyun moves away from his car to wave hello to JiU, but something from the corner of his eye caught his attention.
A car from the corner of the parking lot, sped up towards JiU, who was heading towards the van's open door. However, she was too occupied with her phone to notice the oncoming car.
"JiU-ssi!" Soohyun's feet moved faster before he uttered those words. By the time JiU noticed Soohyun and the oncoming car, Soohyun had already pushed her into the van. The second JiU entered the van, Soohyun took the full hit of the car as he body flies back and over the car. And without a second to spare, the car drives out of the parking lot leaving Soohyun, a bleeding mess on the concrete.
