Devon's mouth fell open and her eyes fixed on Lewis sitting across from her. The silence between them extended into a period.
"What, what did you say?" Devon stammered with her lower lip trembling, processing the words he said just now.
Lewis took a shallow breath and repeated, "Do you want to go back to school? Derek proposed this idea this morning, and I thought I should ask your opinion about it." He explained, not rushing her as she needed time to absorb it.
If her opinion didn't matter, Lewis would've decided the second Derek proposed this idea. He could just hire tutors to teach her since it wasn't that hard for him. However, that would just be his own selfishness and greed. He didn't want to cage her as there's always this strange feeling that she was caged for a long time.
"Study…" Devon whispered under her breath as she gazed down at her food. Did he say she could go to school? She thought.
