Chapter 259: For a friend

When I reached the Frontline, there were kids as small as five years old cheering for the ongoing gore in front of them. Their parents did not seem to mind. I could guess that was, so the kids became used to that. Hailey had staggered back from the previous blow as her body bent to her right while her right stuck by snugly to her side. It was clear she had a broken rib. The voice I had heard was bone-breaking. 

Despite being so severely injured, she raised her head as I saw a slimy drop of her blood mixed with saliva stretch down her grinning mouth. 

Her face had another cut on her cheekbone, which was sure made by a punch.
