Chapter 12: Book 1 : Chapter 12 The Envelope

I woke later that night. The earlier storm had passed leaving the moon beaming in through the undrawn curtains. All I could hear was the gentle breathing of the still sleeping Leonardo, who lay with his arm gently wrapped around my waist. His lips were slightly parted and the light of the moon lit up his face revealing his beautiful features. He looked pure and innocent, the complete contrast to earlier that night. I lay gazing at him for a few minutes, yearning for him to be this kind and gentle when he was awake.

But only in the innocence of sleep, when his mind drifted unconsciously through dreams, could he be like this.

When he was awake, he destroyed lives. Thousands of them.

And he was stubborn to change. But like I told Rosa, when I see wrong, I fight it until its right. It was a challenge but this was my duty now. I was the only person that stood a chance of putting his evil to an end and that placed a heavy burden on my shoulders.
