Chapter 7: Chapter 7
December 25th
Just because I wasn't human anymore it didn't mean I couldn't still participate in human traditions such a Christmas. I love Christmas it has always been my favorite holiday.
7:00 am
"Mom wake up." I shout
Even though I am 15 and Sabrina is 17 we still like to open gifts on Christmas morning. This year Sabrina and I chipped in to buy mom a present. Since mom always takes pictures of us we got her a $600 camera which better be good because we paid a lot for it.
Sabrina started opening hers first.
She opened her first present and she got the new iPhone. Go figure. Mom has some money to spend since she's a doctor. My dad was a doctor as well that's how my parents met, in collage in med school.
My dad died a 10 years ago. Mom never talks about it much. I really wasn't old enough to understand anything. It took me a whole year to figure out dad was gone. I was never the best a figuring things out. I always had a delayed reaction to pain.
"... Adena your turn." Said Sabrina
I opened my first gift and I too got the new iPhone. I also got a new iMac and earbuds along with some doc martins... Shoes I had always wanted.
"Thank you mom!" I smiled
"Your welcome Hun." She smiled
"Hey mum what's the present left under the tree?" I ask
"I don't know." She picked it up and unwrapped it
"Did you two get this for me?" She asked
We nodded.
"Awe I love you girls!" She smiled and hugged us both
"We just wanted to get you a little something to show you how much we appreciate you." Sabrina said
"I love it, thank you so much." Says mom
We clean up after the ripped paper threw it away. The three of us sat together on the couch and watched Christmas movies.
9;30 am
The oven started beeping. Mom got up off the couch to go check on the lemon poppyseed cake she had made. She made it every year. I got up to go help my mom. I cut the cake and got the whipped cream out of the fridge.
I handed Sabrina here cake and we all ate our cake.
"This is really good." I say
"Your gonna have to teach me this one day." Sabrina says
12:00 pm
Sabrina and I where setting up our new electronics and putting our presents away.
"Girls I have one more surprise for you. She says
Th both of us walk out of our rooms. Sabrina gave me questioning face and I shrugged in response.
"Now since I'm not always home when you are and sometimes I have to stay long since the other doctors are gone and I get screwed over, I got you a dog to make sure you two are safe." Mom says
"So do we have to pick it up or did you do that already?" Sabrina asked
"Open my bedroom door." Mom said
I opened the door and there was a husky puppy sitting on the floor so nicely. I got down on my knees to pet the dog. He got off all fours and licked my cheeks. Sabrina stood in the doorway.
"He's super cute." Sabrina says
"Is he or she trained?" I asked
"Yes he is trained, potty trained, he also trained with the police, he is also a watch dog." Mom said
"Silas, come." Mom said
I guess the dogs name is Silas. So Silas ran over to mom and stood at her feet.
"Sit." Mom
He did just that.
"Stand." She said
He stood on two legs.
"Watch." Mom said
He ran to the window and watched, he barked at anyone who passed by our house. Then someone walked up our driveway and to our door. Silas was barking like all hell was let lose. I opened the door and it was Theo. He kissed me and I let him in.
"Mom this is Theo, theo this is Sabrina and my mom." I say getting them acquainted
"I got Sabrina and your mom a present too." Theo said handing a box to the each of them
Mom opened hers and it was a lens for her camera that Sab and I got her.
"Thank you, Theo." She said
Sabrina got keys... I think to a car...
"I like him already." Says Sabrina
I opened mine it was a neckless.
"Thank you Theo, you do know you didn't have to do this." I say
"But I wanted to." He smiled, "I should probably get going... I've already been interrupting your day long enough."
"Theo you can stay I'd like to get to know you better." Said my mom
Oh shit.
Theo and I sat down on the couch.
"Have you had a girlfriend before?" She asked
"No ma'am." Theo replied
"Are you a virgin?" Mom asked
"Mom!" I shriek
"No it's fine, yes I am still a virgin." He replied
"Who's your family?" She asks
"My brother Bennet and my Aunt Becky." He says
"Who watches over you?" She asked
"My Aunt Becky." Theo says
"Are you new here?" Mom asked
"Yes I moved here the beginning of the month." He said
"Exactly how long have you and my daughter been dating for?" She asked
"One week and three days." He smiled
"Do you plan on marrying her?" Asked mom
"Yes I do, if she'll have it." He said
"Hey I approve of the kid, he seems very respectful and obviously well mannered... No need for a background check." Sabrina laughed
So did Theo and I.
"I imagine you have something planned for Adena?" Asked mom
"I do." Theo said
"The both of you can go, but I want her home by ten." Mom said
"I've got to get dressed." I say
I run to my room and get dressed. My phone had finished transferring everything from my old phone. I took my phone and I left my room.
Theo took my hand and we walked to his house. Ben opened the door for us.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Ben
"I'm having my girlfriend over." He said
"Whatever." Ben said flipping through the channels on the tv
We both walked in and sat on the couch beside him.
"So I was thinking of having a party on New Year's Eve and invite like everyone in our grade over." Theo said
"What about blending in?" Asked Ben
"We can do that while partying." Said Theo
"What about Lola and I we still don't have total control." I say
"This could be a good lesson." Theo says
"Fine but if one of them kills someone you have to deal with it." Says Ben
"Okay." Theo says
"I guess you and Lola have some training to do, call her over." Theo said
