Chapter 3: Chapter 2

“Don’t worry, you’ll be fine hun! You always get nervous about the first day, but they always turn out good right so just hold on”.

Dad gives his usual optimistic speech, but school is anything but about optimism. Do I like certain subjects? Yes. Do I like school?

NO!

“We’re here” dad stops the car in an alleyway opposite the university.

“Thank you” I mutter and about to step out until I remember, “Did mum call?”

Dad looks away “yeah, she said good luck”.

“She didn’t, did she?” dad nods his head gently.

I give a sigh and smile to my dad “She was probably busy”.

Taking a step out of the car and towards the gates of the university thoughts flood in, mum probably was busy she’s a lawyer, I say to try to console myself. Why did I think today would be a good day?

Before I can complain further, my eyes spot the same guy from last night which stops me in my tracks as the world carries on around me, he holds my gaze. His eyes give away the gentleness behind them. Do I know him? I try to catch up to him when I bump into someone.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry” I hear a female’s voice say.

“Don’t worry” I say without even giving a second glance to the girl. Damn it! I lost him; how does he always disappear so quickly.

My eyes move to the girl in front of me and beautiful is an understatement for her. Her tanned skin can be seen easily due her curly blond hair being pinned back with a bandana. A strand of her curly hair falls right over her almond ocean eyes that become lighter each time the sun hits them. They’re capable of putting anyone in a trance and her smile being so enchanting doesn’t help. She will be the girl that every guy will fall for and every girls desires to be like.

“I’m Hava, a first-year student. Are you a first-year student too?” She holds out her hand to shake, to be polite, I shake it back.

“Hi, I’m Sienna. I’m a first-year psychology student”.

“Me too. Let’s get our ID’s and head in”. I smile and nod.

She reminds me of spring. Something about her makes me feel safe.

All the classes were mostly wasted in introductory for the first half of the lesson and the rest was basic knowledge. At least I thought so. My old school was very strict in getting information into us, I hated the strict regime then, but it came handy now. The teachers here are so much nicer than teachers in London.

“Wait, you just moved here?” Hava asks.

“Yeah” I respond.

“So, you live in a dorm?” she further interrogates.

“Actually no, my grandma already lives here and due to family circumstances, I had to move here. It was a good thing I applied for this university as a backup”.

“Well, if you ever need someone to show you around then I’m your girl”.

“Thank you but I should be fine. I used to come to Somerset a lot as a kid” I smile back. Did that sound rude?

“Oh, that’s cool, here’s my number though in case you do need it” Hava writes down her number on a spare piece of paper that I hand her “There’s my brother, got to go”.

I nod my head and glance over to where she’s walking towards. A matte black range rover. Pretty, rich and smart. She’s perfect in every sense that it unlocks the green monster from within. I try to contain it when another emotion overcomes me. The emotion of fear…

That’s him!

She waves bye as the car drives past me, I wave back but my eyes are too focused on him. He doesn’t even look my way but continues looking forward. Their car gave away their wealth and power which did not help the fear which was starting to develop.

I feel a vibration in my pocket and pull out my phone. “Hi dad”.

“Hi, I’m here”.

I approach the car with thoughts still pummelling in.

The car ride was quiet apart from the usual of how my day went.

“Hi nana! You really shouldn’t be in here” I say as I make my towards the fridge.

“Shhh, keep your volume low. I know how much you used to love my oatmeal chocolate chip cookies” she says with her eyes still glimmering.

“Still do” I say with a smile as I make my way around the centre counter to kiss her.

“Mum, I told you that’s not necessary” dad says with crossed eyebrows as he leans against the door.

“You don’t stop an expert, but you can help them” Nana says waving her wooden spoon around. Dad chuckles as he makes his way over. I sit with them, laughing; just feeling free from the stress until I decide to head upstairs to get changed.

I go over the stuff that I learnt today, considering only 30 minutes was used in actual teaching, there wasn’t a lot to cover. I look over the last set of notes that I wrote when the number that Hava wrote on is there. I type it in to my phone and send her a text saying this is my number.

I walk over to the mirror and look at the girl looking back at me. Her features look so average. The same wavy brown hair stopping right underneath her shoulder, my eyes travel to her round brown eyes and every time my eyes are consumed by darkness, I wonder of what more she could’ve been. I smile at her and her apple cheeks fill up. I don’t want her to change. She’s perfect.

I’m perfect!

My ears are pricked from movement outside, I turn my head towards the window and there he is again but this time with someone else. I’m going to catch him red handed this time. I sprint downstairs and out of the door but once again he’s vanished into thin air.

“Sienna, what is it?” dad inquires as he heads by the door.

“Nothing let’s go” I say turning back to go inside.

Before I close the door, I look outside again, but not a soul in my view.

What does he want?
