Momo took Sayo with her so she could talk with her friends as Sayo did not have many of her own. It was a result of her own maturity, mental age, and how she was not very approachable anyway. Momo had a group of good friends who all looked at Sayo and her three pets with a bit of apprehension. They had seen her power outburst earlier which made many boys who wanted to talk to her back off.
She was trying to avoid doing that for her own reputation's sake, but it ended up not going how she planned it.
"Girls, this is my best friend Sayo. You did not speak much earlier, but I wanted to properly introduce her this time."
Sayo bowed a little.
"It's nice to meet you. Sorry for leaving without introducing myself earlier."
One of the girls shook her head.
"Don't worry about it, but can I ask you a quick question?"
Sayo did not mind.
"Sure."
The girl walked up to Sayo a little nervous.
"Can I pet your bear? I love bears."
Sayo nodded.
"Sure, he does not bite."
The girl walked toward Koba who looked down at her and nuzzled her with his huge head. She hugged his head, but she could not even wrap her arms around his head with how big he was.
"He is so soft and warm. What quirk does he have?"
Sayo smiled.
"Back up a little bit."
The girl did as she was told which gave Koba the space he needed. His body began to release hot steam while lava leaked from his body. The heat was so strong that the girls backed up before Koba cut the heat. The lava was resorbed by his body and he returned to being biological. The girls thought that was so awesome.
"Do you plan to be a hero?"
Sayo looked at her and nodded.
"Kind of. I plan to go to U.A, but I am probibly not going to become a real hero. I just want the license. Momo, you are going to. U.A right?"
Momo nodded.
"Yeah, when I get older. Are you coming with me?"
Sayo patted her head.
"It will be better for me to have a friend there so yeah. I will go with you."
"Thank you, Sayo."
That made her smile as she spent a big portion of her time with Momo and her friends. She actually got to know them and actually managed to enjoy the time. The adults talked among each other and bragged about their children and as they were all wealthy made some small business deals. After a few hours, it was time for the gift opening where Momo would get all of her gifts.
Sayo did not have a gift on hand, but she had someone bring it later on. She was sitting with her whole family as Momo opened one expensive dress, jewel, and gift. She politely thanked everyone, but she did not really like these gifts. Momo was never an overly spoiled girl as she was actually a bookworm.
Akio turned to Sayo as he was worried.
"Why does she look so annoyed with this?"
"Because Momo is a bookworm, she does not want all these big expensive gifts. I think she would be happy with just a science book for her quirk. I mean she can make all the stuff she is being gifted with."
Akio sighed in relief that his gift was just what she would want.
"I got her a large selection of books so hopefully she likes them."
Akinari was glad they listened to Sayo to get Momo books on engineering, science, and biology as she constantly researched for her own quirk. When she finally got to the gift that Sayo got her and opened it up to see a bunch of books her joy was genuine. People watching on were confused why she preferred that to the gifts that they got her as one got her a diamond necklace.
That was the last gift so Momo ran up to Sayo and gave her a big hug.
"You remembered?"
Sayo smiled and patted her on the head.
"You always spoke how you loved to read."
Akio and Akinari were happy for both girls as they had friends they could count on. Finally, Momo's father came to the center of the stage with Mina at his side.
"Welcome and thank you all for being here for my daughter's special day. Now it is time for the dance to finish up the day."
Most of the adults began to take thier partners and even some of the older teens like Akimitsu and his fiance went to the dance floor. Akio looked at Sayo, Miachel, and Nejire who did not seem to have anyone. Well Michael was 6 so he did not count, but his daughters did.
"Well, me and your mother are going to go dance. Sayo can I ask you to watch Michael?"
She nodded.
"Sure, I am not going to be dancing anyway."
She picked up Michael and sat him on her lap. He looked up at her with a laugh.
"Haha, you are all alone."
Sayo covered his mouth and as she was much stronger he could not pry her hand off. He reached for his mom, for help, but she smiled at him.
"Have fun you two."
She walked arm locked with Akio as they went to enjoy the dance. Nejire smirked at Sayo which made her look at her.
"What is it?"
"Guess what?"
"What?"
"I got a dance."
Sayo raised an eyebrow.
"You? May Hell freeze over. I did not think anyone would be brave enough to dance with you."
"Rude."
A boy Nejire's age walked up a little nervous. He was a sweating mess as Nejire had forced him to dance with her. The poor guy just wanted to be left alone. He looked at Sayo begging for help, but Nejire pulled him with her. She saw this as a joke to tease her sister, but Sayo was not one who cared.
"Have fun."
Sayo took her hand off Michael's mouth making him gasp for air.
"I ALMOST DIED!"
"I can have Nyx take you on a shadow run later if you don't settle down."
"NO!"
Sayo smiled and hugged him a little higher. He was so small that it was adorable that she thought of something fun. She stood up and put Michael on her shoulders.
"What are you doing?"
She smiled as she told him her plan.
"You want to make 10,000 bucks Michael?"
He squinted his eyes at the promised money.
"What is it you desire of me, sis?"
She smiled as she had a fun idea.
"I want you to spill some juice on Nejire's dress."
Michael extended his hand toward her.
"Show me the money?"
She reached behind her to Nyx who reached into her shadow with her teeth and pulled out a stack of bills. She dropped it into Sayo's hands who handed it to Michael who took the stack with a smile.
"My services are yours."
She put him down and just as he got some juice Momo stoped them.
"Sayo, that a good idea?"
Michael pointed at the money.
"I already got paid so I am doing as I was told."
Momo sighed.
"Nejire won't be happy with you Michael."
Michael pointed at the money.
"10,000 dollars. I am going."
Sayo smiled when he did not just get a glass, no he got a whole pint of juice. As his quirk was active he was quite strong and able to lift that much. When he went into the ballroom Sayo and Momo listened outside. Momo was worried about how this would end, but just then Nejire's scream sounded from inside.
Michael ran outside full-on screaming as Nejire flew after him.
"COME BACK HERE!"
"NEVER!"
She aimed her hands forward as her quirk Wave Motion charged toward Michael. She was going for capture mode, which ended up getting caught. Nejire's blue dress had a giant red stain on it and when she pulled Michael close she saw something big in his pocket.
"What do you have in your pocket?"
"Nothing."
She ignored him and pulled out the stack of money making her look at Sayo. She just saw a surge of shadows and no Maximus, Koba, Nyx or Sayo. Momo stayed behind and she told Nejire the truth as Sayo told her to.
"Sayo paid him to do it."
"That spiteful little girl. How dare she do this to her big sis."
Sayo was 4 years younger than Nejire so she was technically the sister. Still, no one saw Nejire as the big sis for two particular reasons. One was that Sayo was taller, looked older, and acted more mature. Well in certain situations, this was all just a petty revenge against her sister for teasing her. As for where she went she and her pets emerged from the shadows outside.
"Sorry Michael, you took the money now you deal with it. Thanks, Nyx."
Sebes who decided to stay outside in the security detail walked up to her with a polite bow.
"Young miss, what are you doing out here?"
"Oh, I paid my brother to spill juice on Nejire's dress for teasing me."
Sebes chuckled.
"You would do that? I hear that there is a dance at this time."
She nodded as she sat down.
"There is, but I don't find anyone there acceptable."
Sebes extended his hand to her.
"How about me? I have taught you since you were a little girl so teaching you to dance on the fly won't be too hard. I even taught your grandfather and great aunt as well."
She did not mind it, but she had questions.
"I never met my grand aunt. Why does she never show up to family events? Also, I don't mind dancing with you Sebes. You are like a grandfather to me on top of my grandfather."
"Your grand aunt has a higher position than your grandfather. She manages quite a bit of the 'business' so she is mostly busy."
Sayo took his hand with a smile as Sebes had always been like her second grandfather. She returned to the ballroom where he step by step taught her how to properly dance. By the end, Sebes began to treat it kind of like him teaching her a martial art as they both began to move quite rapidly.
Everything he ever taught her could translate to martial arts and battle as foot work was super useful. Akio smiled as he could tell what he was doing.
"He can never stop teaching her new tricks can he?"
Akinari had not noticed it yet.
"What?"
"Look at their footwork."
She saw how rapidly Sayo and Sebes moved thier feet and began to notice how while the dance looked elegant, it was also kind of like a battle of footwork. Sayo was keeping up just because Sebes was holding back.
"Oh, I see what he is doing. He is still teaching her a skill that can apply to her fighting style."
Akio nodded.
"He taught me the same thing when I was a kid."
Just then Sayo and Sebes stopped which made everyone who was looking clap and cheer. Their dance and lesson had been so entertaining and fun to watch that even the adults were impressed. They knew that Sebes was part of the Mackenzee security detail, but not that he was also a good dancer. Many boys and teens who were interested in Sayo were jealous of Sebes that he got to dance with her.
Even if he was just teaching her how to, but that did not matter. As that was the last event Momo approached both Sebes and Sayo.
"That was beautiful."
Sebes just laughed a little.
"Well I am over a hundred years old so I picked up some things. I taught my children, Sayo's grandparents, and now her."
Momo did not know he was that old. Sayo smiled and patted her on the head.
"Well I had a blast, remind me to come next time to your birthday."
"You better. I will go to yours soon."
Sayo nodded as she prepared to leave with her family and her pets.
"Well see you soon Momo."
When her family packed up Koba and Nyx and began the drive home Akinari looked at Sayo with a smile.
"So, how did you like the party?"
"It was actually quite fun. I am glad Sebes taught me how to dance."
Nejire pointed at her red-dyed dress.
"What about this?"
"All in good fun."
Nejire frowned as the rest of the family laughed, except Akinari.
"That was just cruel you two. That was Nejire's new dress."
Sayo sighed.
"I will pay to get it cleaned."
Akio shook his head.
"Don't bother, the dress was made to be super easy to clean. One wash and it will be good as new."
That made Nejire happier.
"What a relief."
Either way, this party was quite a fun trip for Sayo. her 11th birthday was going to be in 6 months so that was something to look forward to. She wondered if she would get a 4th pet which would be perfect.
'Let's hope.'
