A lot of time had passed, and they had still held onto the whole idea of revenge. Was there anything that would make them back down, and if there was, where the fuck was it because here, and now, all they had with them was hopelessness? 

"Ma…are you okay?" Lexi asked Gauri, who was still mourning her best friend's family and children. Maybe she was holding too much to the regrets, but who could blame her when just a few hours ago, she hadn't known of the predicaments that had befallen her best friend and her whole family.

She wondered why Melissa opted to take her family out in one go. She could have entrusted the children to Gauri while they went into hiding, and Gauri could have loved them as her own. Everything about the tragedy was just causing the woman more pain.

Why the hell was fate this cruel to her people?

Why was the universe not even trying to keep them safe?
