Pov Gregory:
A beautiful woman gave me the most loving smile, so happy to see me. And I was happy to see her too, I had just gotten leave from the military, so this was my first time seeing her in years.
I rushed at her and gave her the biggest hug, lifting her off the floor. After all, this person was my wife. At that moment I noticed I wasn't in control of my body, this must be a memory of my past life I thought.
The scene changed, my wife's face greeted me, but she wasn't smiling. Her beautiful face was beaten black and blue, her lifeless dead eyes met mine, and her bloated belly told me that she carried my child.
I tried to reach her, but my arms just wouldn't move. An ambiguous arm appeared from behind her and ruthlessly grabbed her hair, before dragging her to the cliff edge and throwing her off.
The feelings of despair, anger, and anxiety all rushed through me, tears rushed out of me uncontrollably. I jerked my arms as hard as I could, but I couldn't move and was forced to see my loving wife die in the rushing waters below.
But then it was my turn, the same ambiguous arm grabbed me and tossed me over the edge, and as I was about to hit the jagged rocks, I woke up…
*Huff* *Huff* *Bleargh*
I emptied the contents of my stomach, and as an unbearable pain came from my left arm, I looked over at a mangled mess that was my arm. It was broken beyond belief, the pain was so bad that I thought I might faint again. Blood spilled out of my arm, I was already feeling lightheaded due to blood loss. I blink my eyes and see the neon text.
[Side Quest - Survive a Night in the Maze(Extreme) ~Succeeded~]
I quickly 'X' out of the prompt and took my shirt off with some difficulty before wrapping it as tightly as I could at my shoulder. I did this to stop any blood from circulating into my arm, but this has the side effect of putting a timer on my arm. If I wasn't able to escape this death game and get my arm healed by the guide, then the cells in my arm will start dying, and if it gets bad enough, I would lose the arm entirely.
I also couldn't let some blood circulate into the arm once in a while, by loosening the shirt, but because my arm is mangled so much that I'm sure that circulation wouldn't even work.
If I had to guess how long I had until my arm was lost, maybe 6 hours, probably shorter. But I wasn't worried, I had already figured out how to escape, I figured it out as soon as I saw the metal legs of the Griever.
My maze skill was a godsend, I would have never figured this out on my own, the only way to escape was where the Grievers go during the day, and the best place to find that is in section 7. The metal legs matter because, where do these Grievers go to maintenance? The legs of the Griever that chased me were in pristine condition, it's been a year.
I specifically remember the number 7 written on the stinger when the newbie swung it at me, and coincidently section 7 was open, the section hasn't closed yet because it was still waiting for the griever to come back, but the Griever was dead so it never closed back up.
'It's midday, and I'm not dead, sure my arm is unusable, but I'm alive. I need to get back to the glade. I need that stinger, my intuition is screaming at me that I need it to escape.'
I got up and started running through the maze. I ran in a way that would put the least amount of stress on my arm, it already hurt enough.
'How did I survive that fall? Hmm, I think my arm took the full brunt of it, that's lucky, or unlucky depending on how you look at it. And what was that dream about? Those were my memories from my past life, but it was extremely foggy, the only thing I could remember clearly was the cliff and my wife… my… wife…'
Tears ran down my face as I remembered the contents of that dream, all the emotions surged back up.
'Why am I so sad, and where did all these emotions come from? Is that why I'm so scared of heights? And what am I *wince* What am I going to do when I get back to the Glade? Ugg, so many questions.'
At that moment I remembered what had happened at the glade last night, I remembered the betrayal I faced as a unanimous vote to banish me. Anger welled up inside of me, I wanted to go kill all of them immediately. They attempted to murder me, But I quickly put all of those thoughts down, I hadn't the time to kill everyone.
'But what about Albe? He slid this knife into my pocket in front of everyone, risking himself in the process. If he was caught then he would be labeled as an accomplice to the murderer, or something like that.'
'So did he betray me? No, he didn't, if he did he wouldn't have given me that knife. I'm going to need his help to get the stinger anyway, I don't know where they put it after I left. We had been friends since day one, there is no way I'm going to leave him behind. And it's not like he's going to betray me… right?'
While all of these thoughts rushed through my mind I was running through the maze. I was getting close to the glade, it stood only a few turns away. My goal is to find Albe as quickly as possible while not getting caught by the other Gladers.
I took a swift right as soon as I made it to the doors, I don't know how the newbie never got caught doing this. I think I went unnoticed as I disappeared into the forest.
I looked around the glade for Albe and saw him walking into the meeting house, the problem was that everyone else was also going into the meeting house with him.
"Dam it, what terrible timing. Ok, how am I going to single Albe out? I need a distraction."
Then a memory of me starting a fire in an orphanage surfaced.
"Fire is a good distraction!"
I give a slightly evil chuckle before searching the woods for burning stuff and stacking it into a pile. Then I took my pants off, my shirt was already occupied, and made another bow drill. Then everything burned…
POV Albe:
I was conducting a meeting about who should go into the maze next, since Gregory was gone nobody was exploring it.
'I hope he survived.'
"I think Albe should do it, he knew the monster the longest and must have the most experience among all of us."
Carlos was pushing to get me to do it, I bet he would banish me out of the maze if he had the chance.
"Fire! There's a fire everyone, come look!"
We all looked at the person in surprise, we all rushed out and looked at the forest, smoke rose into the air, and where there was smoke, there was the fire.
Everyone panicked and ran to the lake with buckets, quickly trying to put out the fire before it spread, me included.
"Hey Albe"
As I was bringing a bucket of water I heard a familiar voice, the voice of Gregory!
"Gregory, you made it thank God."
I immediately drop the buckets and rush to him. When I saw him I was horrified, his left arm hanging to the side completely mangled, his shirt tied tightly to prevent blood.
"Holy Shit!"
"Albe we need to act quickly, I know how to escape, I just need you to get the stinger, and then meet me at the north door."
"But you're arm…"
"Don't worry about the arm, I can get it fixed if we escape, you're going to have to trust me on this, we have got to escape before the cells in my arm die."
I was shocked, scared, and confused, but I trusted him, he helped me out when I broke my leg, and now I have to help him.
"Alright"
(Power stones and review pls, or I'll come to your house, steal your cat, and eat the feline raw.)
