Chapter 2: Beginning of Mystic Ranker
The internet was going crazy right now. Well, one could say that the world was in chaos right now.
Shiva surfed down Facebook searching for a news article or something which could explain the situation. He soon found a news article and clicked the link. The news article had summarized the situation carefully and accurately.
Different types of monsters were seen attacking villages or cities all over the world. From the CCTVs footage, it could be seen that these monsters appeared out of nowhere. The situation wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. The monsters that were seen were not relatively strong as they could be defeated pretty easily. But the things it dropped amazed the people around all over the world. Modern weapons were enough right now but the public was still terrified that these monsters could appear again with a larger number, stronger power. The governments were trying to cool their citizens. They promised to protect their citizens and suggested they not leave the house. If you needed to leave urgently, don't leave alone and always be careful.
Shiva didn't dwell on it for much longer on the topic and closed his phone. He recalled his fight with the goblins. He remembered the adrenaline rush he experienced for the first time in his life. He liked that rush feeling. He loved it. He fell asleep recounting that experience.
Next day
The world was still going crazy. Many scientists were trying to explain the situation. They were just saying things hypothetically. There was one in particular who was gaining popularity with his crazy theory. He was Jack Ivanov from Germany. He said that things were just starting. The situation will continue to worsen. Powerful and frightening monsters will keep appearing for the world had sinned too much. This is our retribution. We humans have killed too much and sinned too much. Nature is doing this to keep us in rein. We won't be at the top of the food chain any longer. He spoke.
Shiva found the situation pretty amusing. He knew or felt that he knew what will occur in days to come. So, he had his own theory. He believed that the monsters will keep on appearing. They had their own purpose or their own agenda for appearing out of nowhere. He didn't know the reason behind it and knew that he couldn't figure it out any sooner. So, he didn't dwell on it any longer. He felt that he should know how to fight right now. He didn't know what would happen if the situation became worse than he thought.
He didn't know any way to learn to fight. So, he did what he could. He downloaded some self-defense videos on YouTube and headed to the forest behind his village. The forest wasn't particularly big enough for it to harbor wild animals but it was big enough for him to do his things secretly. He practiced there following the instructions the whole day. He knew that he couldn't learn them in a day. He needed to practice for a longer period of time. He then regretted his decision to not join self-defense classes when he had the chance.
2 days passed…
Nothing out of ordinary happened for the next two days. But at the third day, the whole world itself started to shake and many dungeons appeared out of nowhere. The dungeons were of various shapes, sizes, and atmospheres. But one thing was common. Each and every one of them harbored demons or monsters as one could hear their cry, roar or screeching sound. These dungeons once again stirred the calm ocean.
There was one good thing though. Monsters were present inside the dungeons only. They didn't come out or anything. People were still wondering what to do when America launched its missiles at one of the dungeons. The missile hit the dungeon and
BOOM
There was a large explosion. When the explosion and the dust settled, it was seen that the missiles did no damage to the dungeon at all. And it was to note that that dungeon was one of the smallest ones. This proved that humans had no way to fare with these dungeons right now.
But after the explosion settled, the people all over the world suffered a headache and in the next moment, they could see a screen in front of them with a message displaying over it.
Shiva was training in the forest when all of a sudden, the land began to shake. He thought that it was an earthquake. But it calmed down after 4 or 5 seconds. Then he looked around to see if there were trees or things that may fall on him and could be the death of him. The next moment, he suffered a sudden headache. It was so intense that it was almost unbearable. Then he felt a light flash over him and he saw a screen floating in front of him with a message over it.
"You have 4 days before the dungeons will open. Clear the dungeon or perish.

Shiva didn't think any longer and clicked on the details.
After scrolling through the details, he found some information.
There were 5 types of dungeons. Red, Orange, Blue, Purple, Black.
Red was for beginners (Level 1 to20), Orange for intermediates (Level 21 to 50), Blue for Upper-intermediates (Level 51-100), and so on.
Each colored dungeon had five difficulties-Novice, Amateur, Professional, Legend and mythic.
One could awaken and become Hunter or Ranker at any dungeons.
Monsters would vary depending upon the dungeon, its difficulties, and its levels. One could get equipment, weapons, artifacts, skill books, etc. upon clearing dungeons.
Shiva was very excited seeing all this. He didn't waste any time and headed straight into the nearest dungeon he could see. He was very lucky that the nearest dungeon was just 5 minutes ahead of him and it was a beginner's dungeon.
He soon reached the dungeon and placed his hand on the screen in front of the dungeon. The screen scanned his hand and it stored his data. He saw a blue halo of light flashed on him and then everything went blank.
When he opened his eyes, he found himself inside a space. Everything was black except a fairy-like girl flying in front of him with its tiny body.
"Welcome, you are the first person to register. Congratulations Mr. Shiva." It spoke.
"Thank you." He was glad that he was the first person to register. He couldn't contain his excitement as
he felt that he would receive a special prize for being first.
"Let's start. I will inform you on how you should enter the dungeon. You will have to enter the dungeon alone for the beginner level. You can form parties or hunt dungeons with a party only in higher levels. Now you have four attributes. Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Vitality, and Endurance. You have 10 free points. You will receive 4 free points at every level. Now head to the dungeon and start your journey." It spoke and vanished.
He didn't even get a moment to ask and say anything before it disappeared.
He then heard an announcement. "You have 1 minute for points distribution. Imagine what you want to be and distribute them based on your own preferences. Points allocated can't be changed once done."
Shiva observed his screen and saw his attribute panel. He clicked and saw six attributes- Five under basic with each being 0 and 10 free points and One under Hidden attribute.
Shiva noticed the hidden attribute and knew at an instant that it was the privilege of being the first.
He had been reading game novels for some time. So, he knew which attribute did what.
Basic attributes: *Strength (Increases the attack power)
*Vitality (Increases the recovery rate of HP and MP),
*Agility (Increase the movement speed and attack speed),
*Intelligence (Increases the magic attack power),
*Endurance (Increases HP and stamina)
Hidden attributes: *Luck
He distributed his free points focusing on agile. He knew that he should first focus on his survival. This was the most important thing. Being most powerful or being famous, one can focus on later stages. And being faster than your enemy would help you too much.

After distributing his free points, he looked at his data.

"Well. it looks nice" Shiva was thinking when the mechanic voice sounded again in his head.
"Okay. Now the time is off. I see you have finished distributing your attributes. Otherwise, it would have been distributed randomly by me. Now I need to inform you that you don't have any class restrictions or anything. You can develop any way you want. Would you like to enter the dungeon?"
It asked.
"Yes". Shiva replied with an excited voice. I can't control my excitement any longer. He thought.
The screen turned black and I soon found myself staring at a majestic door that I found familiar.
Well. Isn't that the door I saw outside the dungeon Shiva thought? He again heard the mechanical voice which made him feel like he was splashed a bucket full of water on the cold winter.
"Fool. You still have 4 days before you can visit the dungeon. Ha-ha" It spoke with its mechanical voice which sounded weird to me. Its monotonic voice lacking any emotion but trying to be sarcastic was funnier than me making me a fool. Shiva found it amusing.
"Well. Can I talk to you even outside the dungeon?", Shiva wanted to figure out the system voice first.
"Yes, only you can. This is 2nd privilege of being the first to register. But you will lose me if you don't finish the dungeon first too. So, do be careful and be faster and productive." It replied.
Shiva was now very glad that he didn't waste his time pondering useless things and registered first. He knew that it was like a cheat to have a system. But he felt pressured by the last sentence. Can he be the first to clear the dungeon every time? He knew it was very hard and almost impossible. It was like competing against the whole world. He would try his best to not lose this advantage.
