Chapter 2: Dining room discussion (Act 1)

It is a day like any other at the high specialty hospital of "Coral City". People move from here to there with the busy life that this type of place entails. However, our fragment of story does not fall on it, but rather, on an ordinary dining room discussion, where two fellow doctors debate their points of view:

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel (grumbling while having breakfast, pointing with his fork in hand): I'm serious, Santiago! Patients are getting weirder every day!

- Dr. Aaron Santiago: I don't think you should talk like that about patients.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel: It's not my fault that they do so many stupid things!

- Dr. Aaron Santiago: Obviously not, but seriously, I really don't think it's a good place to discuss this (...)

Both doctors turn to see the people around them, who whisper and look at the conversation with disagreement.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel: It's not like there is something wrong with telling the truth. You and me well know that most of the conditions we treat are perfectly avoidable acts of recklessness.

- Dr. Aaron Santiago (sliding his glass of water from one side to the other): I give you your point in favor, but I think you are exceeding your statements.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel (interrupts his food and puts his cutlery down on the plate, indignantly): Please! You're not going to tell me that human unconsciousness is justifiable!

- Dr. Aaron Santiago: I am merely remarking that many of these acts must have a reason for being. Certainly the lifestyles of each individual give them their own characteristics.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel (reluctantly regaining his composure): Look, save your public health fundamentals, and listen: just today, in the emergency department, we received a patient with a severe asthma exacerbation that he himself it was induced, because, apparently, he thought it was an excellent idea to nebulize vodka for greater and better "therapeutic" effects. How do you see this "specimen"?

Dr. Aaron Santiago is silent and simply watches with a uselessly disguised expression of disbelief as he listens to the story.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel: Now do you realize it? People do stupid things almost for sport.

- Dr. Aaron Santiago (looks by the side while adjusting his tie): It is certainly a peculiar case (…) however, even so, I consider that this kind of thing does not happen just like that.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel (stops and observes his friend, narrowing his eyes): - Are you telling me that you think that what I just told you (...) is false?

- Dr. Aaron Santiago: I'm not saying that (...)

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel (points the knife threateningly at him): No! You've done it!

- Dr. Aaron Santiago (making gestures with both hands indicating to his partner to calm down): Put that thing down, Ángel.

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel (slams the knife on the table in a dull sound, and leaves it there): Damn it! I can't believe my best friend in all life has questioned my word!

- Dr. Aaron Santiago: Ángel, you are being dramatic (...)

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel: No! It is incredible to know that I have to find someone who supports me before you so that you believe me!

Dr. Ángel San Miguel reluctantly takes out his cell phone, and begins to search through his contacts.

- Dr. Aaron Santiago: Ángel, what do you think you are doing?

- Dr. Ángel San Miguel: I am contacting Sarah. Let's see if you listen to someone other than me.

- Dr. Aaron Santiago (upset): Ridiculous.
