"Tell me I heard that wrong, milord," I said, turning to face the king as I shook with anger.

His momentary silence made me heave a sigh of disbelief.

Then he said, "You must have been kept in a very protective and isolated environment to not have known that such people truly exist in all lands. Yet this is the first time I'm encountering a family who wants one of their member dead in my hidden form."

"There is still the fortune he left behind," said Annabelle's male cousin. "That should be more than what the property would cost as he was a single man."

But when they saw the records, their faces were so white that they would swoon sooner or later.

"This is not even enough to buy the land!" screamed the middle-aged lady. "Did he sell his money off to the poor again?"

"Whatever be the case," said the second niece, "the outsider is out of the picture. I am glad that the filthy creature is out of our way and that we have a solid plan."
