Chapter 15: Chapter 12
"STOP!"
Yu Yingyi's yell caused the two to stop and glance over at her in surprise, they never expected her to raise her voice.
"Why're you two arguing against each other when she's your mother and you're her daughter?" Yu Yingyi asked.
"As a mother, you're supposed to be supportive of your daughter, no matter what changes go on with your daughter. And Song Liya, as a daughter, you should try to listen to what your mother is trying to say instead of saying something back every time your mother says something."
"But that doesn't mean you need to agree with what your mother is saying, I want you to listen to why your mother is opposing this relationship with each other cause right now, all I'm hearing is a pointless argument and you're just going back and forth without getting anywhere."
"Your majesty, I understand why you think of same-sex relationships the way you do because it's not normal. However, I believe if you at least let this marriage proceed, your image of people who are into the same sex would slightly change." Yu Yingyi stated.
"Commoner! Who're you to lec-" Before Song Zihan could continue, Song Liya interrupted her, something no one would dare to do, but since she was her daughter, she could do it.
"Mother! I think you should listen to her. Even though she may be a commoner, that doesn't mean there aren't any deep reasons to listen to what she says." said Song Liya.
"Liya!"
"I'm being serious mother, now that she is my consort, her significance has risen to where she can speak to people of the imperial family on the same level."
Yu Yingyi was shocked at what Song Liya said, she basically just disrespected her mother's role and said that her importance was on the same level as a consort. But luckily, Song Zihan didn't catch that since her mind isn't as "open-minded" if you get what I mean.
But Song Zihan still wasn't haven't it, all thoughts of accepting this same-sex marriage didn't appear in her mind, not even once. However, she was smart enough to read the atmosphere though, lots of people could be seen looking at her with eyes full of hatred and confusion.
After all, over half of the people who attended the marriage were homosexuals, but Song Zihan didn't know that.
Yu Yingyi's words were quite reasonable too, Song Zihan couldn't deny that, in the end, she was going to have to accept this marriage one way or another.
But if they wanted this marriage to continue, there was a condition that needed to be met.
"Fine! I've already had enough of this, I'll let this marriage proceed," said Song Zihan.
Everyone's mood was lifted at those words, but they were soon filled with anxiety.
"But there are two conditions." Song Zihan added.
"What is it?" asked Song Liya.
At this point, Yu Yingyi has spoken so much that her throat was dry, it was hard to speak up. Therefore, she let Song Liya take over.
"One, Yu Yingyi, your bride, must be dressed as a man at all times. I can't stand seeing two people of the same genders being in a relationship in my sight, especially if it's my daughter."
"The second condition! This marriage will be announced to the public with Yu Yingyi announced as a man. Not a word of Yu Yingyi being a woman could be said to the public, otherwise, she will be executed." said Song Zihan.
Everyone felt rage building up inside of them, both conditions didn't benefit the couple at all, everything Song Zihan said benefited her.
But they couldn't do anything about it since they knew this was the closest they were going to get to Song Zihan's acceptance towards homosexuals.
Song Liya felt a bit disappointed but happy that her mother accepted. But Yu Yingyi felt differently, she only felt disappointed. Right when she thought she could start something new, it wouldn't happen.
In the end, that was the deal.
After all, a commoner's words were just a commoner's words, it's not like it could reach the people who were at the peak.
At this moment, Yu Yingyi wished that she wasn't born as cannon fodder. If only she had a higher role in this world, she might've been able to help homosexuals be recognized.
Yu Yingyi and Song Liya's proceeded, it was held in public where everyone could see them. The people were surprised that Song Liya married a man, a commoner at that.
But once they heard Song Liya's speech on how much she loved him, all doubts were erased from their mind and they supported them with all their hearts.
They didn't complain about the commoner since he had that feminine look that made him more handsome. Girls who saw him started fawning over him which Song Liya disliked.
No one knew the chaos that happened, except for the people who were there.

Yu Yingyi was currently laying in bed with Song Liya staring at the white ceiling, her heart had an uncomfortable feeling.
"Song Liya, don't you have anything thoughts about our marriage?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"Not really, as long as I can be with you, I'm fine with anything." Song Liya answered.
"You really are simple-minded huh?"
"What was that?"
"Nothing, I'm just thinking about things."
Song Liya felt worried and asked, "Is there something wrong? You can tell me."
"Was the conditions really necessary? Especially the last part about me being executed."
"*Sigh* It's how my mother always been, I guess me and her are quite similar in that aspect, we always got whatever she wanted. Even my father couldn't oppose her during the chaos."
"I see, there really wasn't anything we could do about it huh? Right when I thought there could be a huge change in this society."
"It's okay, we'll find a way to announce our relationship, but with you as a woman."
"Will that really happen though?" Yu Yingyi asked, she was full of doubt.
"Look at you, are you finally taking our relationship seriously?" Song Liya teased, hoping to lift the mood.
"Shut up, I'm too tired to say anything back."
"Haha, then why don't we sleep?"
Song Liya pulled Yu Yingyi closer to her until Yu Yingyi could hear her heartbeat.
Yu Yingyi listened to the soft beating, she knew Song Liya truly loved her, but she couldn't return the love because she was straight.
'If I can't love you as a woman, I'll try to love you as a man.'
