Chapter 20: A second Chance

Author's Note:

Procrastination Time! :)

-----------------------------------------

POV Sapphire:

"What the hell Is going on here!?!?" I hear a shrill voice yell from the door.

I look over and see a red-faced Weiss standing in front of the entrance.

I take a few breaths to compose myself and greet, "Welcome back, Weiss."

"Don't change the subject! What is going on here?!" Weiss angrily replied.

Before I can answer, however, Ruby beat me to it, and said, "Hmm? Well, Sapphire tried to tease me so I punished her."

Weiss's face reddens even more after hearing that, and she stuttered out, "Th-tha-that is indecent!"

"Why?" Me and Ruby reply simultaneously.

"W-well… Bec-because….," Weiss struggles to find the words to answer our question.

Weiss seemed about ready to overheat, but Yang came to the rescue. She got Weiss's attention with a fake cough and gestured toward the scroll she was holding. Weiss seemed to understand and pulled out her own scroll.

After a few seconds of reading, she immediately colled down, and she changed the subject, "With that being handled, Ruby Could you get off of Sapphire? I have something to discuss with her."

Ruby grew a little worried at the serious tone of Weiss's voice, but she still complied and dismounted me. With my freedom being returned, I sat up and looked at Weiss with confusion.

"Sapphire, I would like to apologize to you," Weiss let out in the same serious tone as before.

I was shocked at this, but before I can ask for clarification she continued, "I had judged you without giving you the chance to prove yourself, and for that I am sorry. I realize that my words have likely caused you to resent me, but I hope you can find it within yourself to give me another chance. Again I am sorry."

Weiss lowered her head at her last sentence, and I can't help but compare her to a shivering puppy. She is acting tough, she is worried about how this will turn out. Understandably so, This will, after all, affect the next four years of her life and perhaps more.

I stood up and walked over to the short heiress, and she stiffened, likely expecting me to hit her or something. However, what I actually do was beyond the expectations of anyone in the room.

I bend down a little and bring her into a light hug before separating with my hands on her shoulders. She looks up at me, still more than a little confused at what just happened, but before she can mentally catch up, I speak.

"Listen, Weiss, I won't lie. Your words hurt quite a bit, but I don't hate you for that," I let out slowly to make sure she gets my words.

Weiss's face darkens at the first part of my sentence but brightens up when she hears the second part.

"I accept your apology, Weiss, and I am more than willing to give you a second chance," I let out with a kind tone.

"Really," Weiss spoke unbelievingly.

"Yes, really. I would much rather do so now than stubbornly and meaninglessly hold a grudge against someone who didn't even do anything major," I spoke in order to reassure the small girl in front of me.

Weiss smiles in relief and replies, "Thank you, I will not squander it."

"I'm sure you won't," I let out.

"Sapphire," Weiss calls my name.

"Welcome to the team," She finishes.

With a full toothed smile, I reply, "Thank you, Weiss, I'm glad to be a part of it."

I hug the girl again, and this time she awkwardly returns it.

"With this, Team RWBYS is reunited! Bonzai!" I hear Ruby cheer in the background.

"Bonzai!" Blake and Yang follow Ruby's enthusiasm and cheer.

I separate from Weiss and cheer as well, but Weiss just sighs.

I am glad that Weiss decided to apologize for her words. I didn't wish to live in the environment that this would have inevitably created. I don't know what caused her to treat me like that in the first place, but I am happy she decided to at least try to mend our relationship.

-Grrrr

An audible stomach growl spread throughout the room. We all looked to the source, Ruby, who blushed in embarresment.

"Haha, I guess I am a little hungry. What time is it anyway?" She awkwardly asked.

I pull out my scroll to see the time and, "It's one o' five."

Hearing this Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang stiffen.

"We're going to miss lunch!" Ruby states with despair.

"Calm yourself, you dunce, we still have time, but we need to hurry!" Weiss stated with urgency before leaving through the door.

"Quick team, to the cafeteria!" Ruby orders dramatically and runs out the door.

The rest of us quickly follow her as we would rather not miss lunch.

A bit of a short one this time, as I wrote this one when I was taking a break from studying.

Enjoy.
