Chapter 12: Welcome to Beacon

POV Ruby:

"What was that?!? How did she kill it so fast?!?!" Yang hysterically asks.

"That attack seemed similar to the effects of burn dust, but it was far too powerful for anything that could be loaded into an arrow of that size, and that final sword strike showed traits of air dust, but it didn't seem that she loaded any dust into her weapon. That is likely her semblance. There is no feasible way she used dust. Even the highest quality of dust the Schnee sell can't display that kind of firepower." Weiss debates with herself.

"I'm inclined to agree with you. As much as I hate to say it, the Schnee the very top dogs of dust production, so, if they don't have anything comparable to this display, then, probably, no one does." Blake says rather reluctantly.

I didn't say anything. I couldn't say anything. I was stunned into silence. From the time she was spotted by the nevermore to her removing its head, not even a minute passed. She killed a Nevermore in under a minute. She killed a Nevermore alone, slightly faster than it took all four of us to do the same.

That.

Was.

So.

"Awesome!!!" I hear the chipper voice of our resident goddess of thunder finish my thoughts.

She then goes on to ramble to Ren about what she thought was so amazing, much to his dismay. I just turn my attention back to the display, as I tuned out her voice.

POV Sapphire:

It didn't take me long to reach the bottom of Beacon Cliff. I hadn't run into any more Grimm after that Nevermore, so I was able to run all the way here without any interruptions.

I stare up the cliff-face and plan my ascent. I can't use a singular blast of wind, as a blast strong enough to push me to the top would likely injure me, and creating a path up with Ice would simply be inefficient, so I will simply do both.

I boost myself up the cliff in segments, creating footholds of ice to land on and then subsequently boost off of. I scale the cliff very easily by doing this and swiftly find myself at the top.

Professor Goodwitch and Ozpi-, Headmaster Ozpin look at me as I land at the top of the cliff.

"Well done, miss Sapphire, that was a clean performance, your initiation will be reviewed, and you will be informed of your grade by the end of the week." I hear Professor Goodwitch praise in the same serious tone of voice she always seems to have.

"Yes, splendid performance, indeed. Now, If you would follow us back to the academy, there is still more we must do." Headmaster Ozpin says as he and Professor Goodwitch turn around and walk back toward Beacon.

POV Ruby:

The displays turned off and the lights came back up, and with this came a wave of confused murmurs across the crowd. Seemingly to quell the crowd, Professor Port came on stage and spoke into the mic.

"Now I know you all must be curious and eager for answers, but, I assure you, you will receive more information when Professors Ozpin and Goodwitch come here with our guest. For now, please remain patient," He said.

Seeing as we probably have a few minutes before our two professors get here with the mysterious lady, my team and I turn to talk with team juniper about what we just saw. This however justs results in everyone having more questions than answers, so we just start to talk idly to pass time.

-------------------------------------------------------

A few minutes pass, and the doors to the auditorium open. The room goes silent as three figures enter. The crowd parts as they move toward the stage at the front of the auditorium. The three make their way onto stage and Professor Goodwitch approaches the mic.

"Now, before we get to further matters, I must clarify a few things. First, what you just witnessed was not a performance by a professional huntress, but that of a prospective student intent on enrolling at Beacon" She says, and murmurs once again rise in the crowd.

"Ahem….. With that being said, I will now turn it over to Professor Ozpin." She says and the Headmaster takes her place at the mic.

"I realize that you all might be confused, so allow me to explain. Due to an accident on the part of the school, miss Sapphire here found herself unable to enroll in time for the start of the year." Ozpin pauses,

"Due to the school being at fault in this matter, we decided to give her a chance to enroll late. There was one major problem with this, however, and this problem is also you all were gathered here to watch young Sapphire's initiation. That problem being, the lack of people to form a team, so we decided on making a small exception and place her on an already existing team," He continued, earning a large range of reactions from the crowd.

Many were hopeful of having this skilled latecomer added to their team, but I realized something. During her initiation, Sapphire had grabbed the gold knight piece, the same one used to form team RWBY.

"It seems we're getting a new teammate," I whisper to the other members of my team, but before they can respond Professor Ozpin continued.

"Team RWBY, would you please step on stage," He asks.

I look at my team and gesture them to follow me on stage. The lights dim as me, Weiss, Yang, and blake stand side by side facing Professor Ozpin. A display is brought depicting pictures lined up in a row; much like when our teams were first formed. The difference is, this time, there are five pictures instead of four. The pictures, in order from left to right, go me, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and finally a beautiful fox Faunus, who I presume to be Sapphire.

"Miss Sapphire, please remove your mask and hood and step forward," Professor Ozpin addresses the tall lady.

Sapphire complies and pulls down her hood, revealing long midnight black hair with vibrant strands of gold tied into a ponytail. She then removes her mask and hangs it from a belt at her waist. Now that I see her face in person, I must say, the picture on the display really doesn't do her justice. Her royal blue eyes almost seem to glow in this dim light, and the fanged smile gives her a comforting feeling that the straight-faced photo of her could never compare to. She then moves in line with us, standing next to yang.

Realizing that I am staring , I quickly turn my attention to my teammates. Yang is just being Yang, Blake seems a little happy with the girl, but Weiss seems uncomfortable for some reason. Before I can think much further, however, Professor Ozpin starts speaking again.

"Sapphire, You retrieved the white night piece. This is also the piece that the members of team RWBY had retrieved during their initiation. So, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long, and Sapphire, no last name, From this day forward you shall work together as team RWBYS(rubies), still lead by Ruby Rose. Welcome to Beacon miss Sapphire, also Ruby, come speak with me after everyone is dismissed. I need to talk to you about your dorm situation." Professor Ozpin recites causing the audience to applaud.

The smile of genuine happiness that showed itself on Sapphire's face is a sight I don't think I will ever forget.
