Chapter 9: 9. Alastair takes a year off. Part 3

I was soon ready to start the expirement, I had all of my supplies, materials, and equipment needed.

I took out a massive amount of the blood I had stored, but not all of it, I still had plenty left. Even after I had taken out 300 feet squared of blood, about the size of a football field, or a pool the size of a football field.

I had put it in a hole in the ground that I had dug. Then with using some of the 20 magic runes I had learned I had inscribed the ones I had decided to use for the ritual, around and inside of the hole I had dug.

The Rune's that I had used were; "Purify", "Strengthen", "Absorb Ambient Mana", "Balance", and lastly "Condense".

I had inscribed; "Purify", "Strengthen", and "Absorb Ambient Mana" each 5 times in a circle in the center of the hole, then on the edges of the pool I had inscribed "Balance" 13 times in a circle, then lastly around the pool of blood I had inscribed "Condense" 23 times in a circle.

These were all magical numbers I had learned of, in my self studies of arithamancy.

In one of the fanfics of Harry Potter that I had read was that the magic came from the soul, and the soul told the body how to grow. Which seemed right as I looked kinda like myself in my last life, but with a bunch of small difference's that basically made me look like a more handsome version of myself with some features from my family such as my black hair, and grey eyes.

Anyway as the theory was magic came from the soul, and the soul shapes the body, the body contains magic, and most of the magic is concentrated in the blood, also the blood moves around your entire body, such as the important places like the brain and heart, so even without magic, blood is important especially for life.

So if the theory is correct than what I'm doing should create a strengthened crystal of my own blood and magic.

Yet for all my knowledge, which was far ahead of my peers of the same age, it was still rudimentary at best when you think of knowledge on a world scale or universal scale, or even the knowledge of a country as a whole vastly outstripped mine, not counting my "meta-knowledge".

Even then, since I was born well before the start of the Harry Potter timeline, I needed to use every edge or opportunity I could to give myself an advantage.

Especially considering I was born in 1857 and the story started in the year of 1991, by that time I would be around 134 years old and most wizards died before they grew that old, and the average lifespan of a wizard or witch was 137 and 1/2 years old.

So I would be old, frail, and weak or dead by then, which given my new life and it's possibilities I wasn't so keen on that happening.

Yet thanks to my "Meta-knowledge" and my Magic I had a chance to complete all of my wildest dreams from my first life, and maybe more.

So with all my preparation being done I activated the Magical Rune Array, safely outside at a safe distance, and anyone watching or spying on me would have just seen me take a short ten minute walk, with my house elf, and if they paid close attention they would have seen my hand slightly twitch as I activated the magical rune array. It was more out of nervousness than anything else, as I had half expected to hear a loud explosion once I had activated my expirement.

As I returned to my cave abode, I had my house elf wait outside, but ready to quickly apparate me to safety if I called.

I quickly but safely made my way to the second area of the cave abode, passing through the bookshelf which hid it's entrance. I found my lab in disarray, alot of the equipment was knocked over and some broken, and the lab rats were panicking, and screeching, one had even passed out or died from the shock, looking closer it had indeed died from the shock of the explosion.

Considering though what I had imagined, it was a small explosion, and it could have been worse, much worse. In the fanfic I read, the main character had almost killed himself doing what I did, but his mistakes were why I had enacted the safety procedures I had. For which I was glad, as though it wasn't as bad as I imagined, if I was standing anywhere near here when I activated the expirement, I would have been wounded, if not worse killed.

Now it was time to see if my expirement was a success, I used one of the ladders that had fallen to carefully enter the hole that I had dugged. I walked near the center and I found a misshapened blood red rock what resembled a warped spherical shape.

So far so good, now to test if it actually does what I wanted. I picked it up using some tools and placed it into a box, that had some rope tied around it. I then threw one end of the rope up over the hole, then climbed out of the hole using the ladder, then I grabbed the rope I had thrown and pulled the box up.

I picked it up and carried it over to my work bench and put it down. Then I started to get to work, I had 10 lab rats, and 10 lab rats that I had created with my blood, I had a theory to test that as the stone came from my blood only that something with my blood, or bloodline would have better results.

I opened up the box and grabbed the stone with some tongs, then lowered it into a large bowl of water, then started a timer, then I got my notebooks ready while I waited for it to soak in the water. After I had gotten my notebooks, I nervously looked at the timer, and then I had to sit and stare at the water, it was quite boring, but soon enough the water started to turn a slight blood red, and it looked like it had a small glow.

I checked my timer, and it had taken 10 minutes to spread to the entire bowl of water. I then took the tongs and put the stone in a bowl of water half the size, and 5 minutes later it was spread to all the water.

I had a rudimentary understanding of how long it took for the stones magic to spread to an entire bowl of water. I had also measured the spheres diameter and weight and it had gotten a few ounces lighter. So I at least knew that it had a shelf life. I then repeated this again for 20 bowls of water.

I put 5 bowls in stasis, left 5 bowls out, and the other 10 bowl was to be used in testing. I collected some of the glowing light blood red water, then I fed it to the rats, and injected it in some.

In preparation for this expiremrnt some time ago I had modified some lab rats. These lab rats originally lived 1-2 years, which was 12-24 months, but I was able to use magic, found in my parents private study, to shorten their lifespan to 1-2 months. Technically the magic I used could be classified as dark, but that wasn't important, after intensive testing I had lab rats with much shorter lives, so the longer they lived, the better for me.

I did this because otherwise I would have to use rats that lived 1-2 years, which I would have to closely monitor, and I knew I didn't have that much time, to devote to this expirement, at least not yet, as my first year of school was starting in some short time.

After injecting them and feeding them the red liquid, I then had to monitor them constantly.

I had cut the rats life down from 1-2 years to 1-2 months that was roughly means I roughly cut or divided their life by 10 times.

I knew from using occulemency from my past life that a 1 year old rat was roughly 30 years in human years. A 1 month rat was equal to a 12 year old human.

So by dividing that by 10 my new lab rats were roughly at 10 days old equal to a 12 year old human, or if I could get them to live 6 months to 1 year that would be anywhere between 216-432 human years.

Sadly my lab expirement results were nowhere promising as those numbers. My normal lab rats lived to the max of 4 months, but then after that they grew thin, frail and weak and at roughly 4 months old died. That was for half the normal lab rats, the other half I stopped giving them the red liquid, shortly after they would become, agitated, moody, and in some cases violent, but when I gave them the red liquid they calmed down and returned to normal. The lab rats I didn't give any red liquid to died.

Which led me to believe the red liquid was addictive, and even more so dangerous as you could die if you stop taking it.

The lab rats created with my blood were much more promising, but still a failure in what I was hoping to create. They lived as long as 4 months too before dying. They however remained looking and acting youthful, until they suddenly died at around 4 months old. When I stopped giving them the red liquid they did not show any signs of addiction, which was promising. Although by doing so I learned that once they stopped using the red liquid after passing their natural lifespan they would soon die.

Yet the ones I continuously fed the red liquid lived for 4 months and retained their youthful looks and energy before dying of old age.

I then autopsied all of their bodies, and normal lab rats had severe cellullar degeneration but still lived to 4 months, otherwise they were fine. The lab rats made with my blood were completely fine, perfectly healthy inside and out, they just died of old age.

After running all the tests I had come to a conclusion that my expirement had succeeded but also failed. It kept you looking and feeling young if your blood was the one that created the blood stone, but you still will die of old age, after a longer life. It was a faillure in that it didn't do what it was intended to do, at least not fully, plus if used on someone that wasn't a blood match for the blood stone it was addictive and your extra years of life would be spent old, frail, and weak before dying.

So it was a failure, but also partly successful. Now If I do the math with these rats only living normally 2 months, I was able to double it to 4 months. Their normal lifespan of 1-2 months equaled 36-72 years of human life, with their extended life of 4 months that was equal to roughly 140-150 human years, so I had almost doubled their lifespan.

Now the average wizards could live up too around 100 years of age, some lived longer, some lived shorter. The maximum age a wizard could live to was around 145-150 years old. So with my blood stone, I could theoretically live for an extra 140-150 years, in which I would retain my eternal youth and energy before dying of old age. This meant if I used the blood stone I could live roughly 300 years, or double my life expectancy.

So with my expirement I had finally done it I had a prototype Philospher's Stone to extend my life, if I needed. Also I decided to just call it the the Lesser stone, as it was only a prototype and it's effects were much lesser compared to the original Philospher's Stone.

Before I did anything else I decided create a bag of holding just for the stone, which was layered with so many security spells it would explode if anyone other than me opened it.

Then I began to wonder, in the movies it showed an old decrepit Nicolas Flamel, but in one fanfic it described a youthful looking Nicolas Flamel. I would need to find a picture of him as soon as I could to see if he was old or youthful looking, if he was older looking then I was in a more canon universe of Harry Potter, and if he was youthful looking well then I don't know what, but I would keep an eye out on the timeline to see if it all goes according to canon.

Now though I was going to take a bath after doing my nightly workouts and going to sleep before I have to deal with my parent's tommorow.

Please let me know what you think.

Also both my Harry Potter fanfics have 8 reviews each so I only need 2 more reviews for each fanfic before I reach 10 Reviews each to get an official rating so please review.

If any of my math is off, oh well, though I'm relatively certain it's not, and if it is it's only by a bit, which is why I used the word "roughly" alot when doing the math.

Also to the people who have commented & reviewed, you have my Thanks and Gratefullness.
