Katherine who was sitting in the middle of her both grandfathers, couldn't help but ask, "Can't you stay for few more days Grandpa?"
Joseph laughed out loud listening to her innocent demand and said after pulling her in a side hug, "I too wish the same, Kathy. But I've some other responsibilities to fulfill. I too have a family who needs both my love and presence in their lives..
Moreover, I also have a grandson who is waiting eagerly for me. If I don't go there, he'll start behaving like a crybaby. So, I definitely have to go there, darling.."
Katherine was well aware about the feelings of how family mattered to everyone. So she thought to not dwell in this matter anymore.
Although she was consoling her heart to get over the sadness of letting go of her recently made Grandpa. But the hint of sorrow that was towering over her face, couldn't be kept hidden by anyone.
Making a cute pout, Kathy muttered in a low voice, "You won't forget me, right? I know Ethan loves you a lot and will keep you busy with everything. But I don't want you to forget me ever..
Though I know you for only few days but I love you just like my own Pa. I got so much attached to you in these few days that I don't even want to stay without you anymore."
Listening to her enquiries which rather came out like a complain, combined with lots of concern, Joseph felt the corner of his lips stretching up into a genuine smile.
Katherine who noticed his smile, scooted closer to him and wrapped her arms around his left hand, making Joseph chuckle at her antics..
Kissing her forehead lovingly, he said, "How can I forget this little princess of mine? Like Ethan, you too have become a piece of my heart. And no one can ever be able to forget someone who is very much precious and connected to his soul...
As you've said, we really have spent a very small amount of time with each other. But I started to treat you like my own granddaughter. I too love you as much as I love my grandson, Ethan. So you don't have to doubt about me forgetting you...
Moreover, it's just the wait of few months. After that, you'll also stay with us. And then we'll keep sticking with each other like glue."
A frown appeared on Katherine's face after hearing Joseph's words, resulting her brows to furrow together in utter confusion.
"What do you mean by me staying with you all? I live with my family here. Then how will we be staying together in few months?" Katherine asked, completely puzzled with his previous statement.
Joseph's eyes darted towards his best friend as he gave him an expressive look, making Wayne nod his head in understanding..
Wayne took the hint immediately and thought to divert his granddaughter's mind from the topic by pretending to get offended by her words.
"Woah! I just can't believe this! Are you really my granddaughter or his? After Joseph came into our house, you've completely forgotten me? This is not fair at all..! I oppose this partiality of yours. After all, I too want my granddaughter's attention." Wayne muttered, giving her an accusing glare.
Katherine grinned widely, witnessing her grandfather's over the top acting and pulled him also in a group hug before lulling him in a cute voice, "Awwww! My jealous Pa.. Don't get jealous over the lack of attention. Because you'll always be the special one for me whom I love the most in the whole world."
These antics of her brought out a chuckle from the two old men's mouth as they shared an apprehensive glance between each other, thanking the God for not letting their sons and daughter-in-laws hear their conversation as they were too much busy in their own set of chatting..

One and half years later…
New York City Hospital…
"Your grandfather is diagnosed with last stage cancer, Mr. Jones. And I'm very sorry to say that, it won't be possible for us to save him anymore." The doctor informed Ethan, shocking him to the core.
It took Ethan few minutes to digest the whole thing and when he finally did, he couldn't help but stammer a little, "Wh...what are you saying doctor? My grandpa has last stage cancer? But how could that be possible?
Today only he fainted all of a sudden, then how can he possibly be diagnosed with this life threatening disease? I think, you must be mistaking somewhere...
It might be some dehydration or his blood pressure must have fallen to an extremely low level, resulting him to faint suddenly. I request you to run all those tests again. I'm sure he's perfectly fine and will be able to love for ten more years."
The doctor could easily detect the shock and tremble in his voice which meant only one thing that he was too much traumatized with the news of his grandfather's health problems..
Sighing a little, the doctor muttered, "Mr. Jones, you have to relax first. I know I'm asking a lot from you in this situation but you can't do anything other than calming yourself down a little. It's true that your grandfather is at his last stage and it can't be curable anymore now..
But what I'm going to tell you next, can be quite shocking for you. As per my perception, your grandfather was already aware of his health issues but he kept it hidden from all of you intentionally.."

But what I can't believe is that, Grandpa Joseph is diagnosed with cancer!
The doctor said he was already aware of it.. Then why didn't he let anyone know about it?
Will he leave all of us and go to God?
