Chapter 44: Chapter 44 Warmth & Peace

"Darling! I'm home," I called, stepping into the house as I handed my coat to the butler of the house and threw my car keys onto the table in the foyer while simultaneously slipping into my slippers.

The sound of running feet was heard and then I looked up just in time to see the figure of my wife running down the marble steps in her bare feet, dressed in a simple yellow sundress that reached her knees.

"Welcome home," she gleamed, jumping into my awaiting arms as I spun us around, enjoying the sound of her sweet laughter as it entered my ears.

We got married nearly a year ago and moved into a large mansion in the middle of a forest for privacy with acres of land to explore. I waited for her to graduate university before proposing and she didn't hesitate to say yes.
