"Marilyn reported to me after serving the lady her breakfast. She told me that Lady Alice seems unwell but didn't let the maid touch her, so Marilyn couldn't measure her temperature. She didn't eat much during breakfast and appeared listless. Thus, when Marilyn carried the dish out, Lady Alice went back to bed," said Butler Elliard as they walked down the hallway.
When the duke heard that, he frowned. "Is there something wrong with the maid? Why didn't the young lady let Marilyn touch her?"
Even though the duke might look like he ignored Alice in the past, he had always been watching out for her. He would inquire about his daughter to the butler every now and then. So, as far as he was aware of, his daughter had been particularly attached with her personal maid. They got along so well that they were more like sisters than Alice with Ophelia.
