In the present, there were only two figures left inside the grand imperial hall. The duke stood expressionlessly before the king with an elegance that did not lose out to the crown himself. The aura of nobility dominated the man's presence in a way that felt rather suppressive and beget respect from other parties.
King Lucius himself felt that something about the man always kept him on toes and even though he was supposed to be superior than the duke, sometimes it felt rather nerve-wrecking talking with the man than dealing with the neighboring king.
This was the reason why the king had never done any tricks against the duke despite feeling inferior. King Lucius felt that it was not worth it to risk the balance of power within the kingdom just because of his own personal issue.
