Chapter 66: Sorry I Can’t Make You Laugh

Drake started walking toward the happy couple. Although he wasn't sure of what to do when he reached them, that didn't matter to him. He just wanted to hear her laugh. He wanted to hear her heart sing.

When he got close to them, it was a little too late. The two had already seen the bustle of the village, and the crowd gathered around the dead wolf. He hadn't arrived in time to hear her laugh.

Drake stopped in front of them, maintaining his graceful stance. Seeing the way they looked at each other, Fenris found the perfect pretense. "Excuse me, but I am going to see what happened." The hazel eyes took a last look at Hope, and then the man walked away from the two and toward the crowd. 

Drake's face was still frozen in a smile when he heard the scorn in Hope's voice. "Are you alone? Where is your mate?"
