Chapter 37: The Meld

When the storm suddenly subsided, the stillness followed. There were days like this when the leafy grass was straight and silent, as though it had been painted there. Our views of the world are often reflected within. That was the reason why Terrix was petrified.

The scene that unfolded before his eyes was an indescribable carnage. And yet, the image of Drake kneeling as Wrenn laughed was what shocked Terix deeply.

The oldest brother had always been the proudest and most arrogant man Terix had ever seen. And yet, now he seemed like the most powerful person in the world. Drake revealed his pain without worrying about who was watching him. He had stopped hiding. That was a true display of strength in Terix's eyes.

He hugged the woman he was holding tightly. Not to soothe her, but more to encourage himself to do something. But what? He was only used to being told what to do, not to take the initiative.
