"Reynard….What. The. Frick."
"Relax, Your Highness." He smiled, tightening his grasp on my shoulder. "It's not like I'm taking you to your grave."
"BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO DO!"
He gave an overly exaggerated gasp. "Am I?"
This is crazy. "I am absolutely not going to jump off. This is a tower, you hear me? A TOWER! I can't even see how deep down it goes."
"But you have to."
"Reynard, there's no way."
"There is."
"Are you telling me to die?"
He pretended to be hurt. "I would never."
We're both gonna die.
Well, I had a pretty questionable first life and a half-okay second one. But was I prepared to...fall?
"Trust me. Now on the count of three. One..."
"Reynard."
"...Two..."
"Reynard, stop."
"Three!"
