Chapter 106: Secret Stash

Gradually, the militiamen all returned to report that they did not find anything out of the ordinary. Frowning, Wang Jingyuan took Official Ma to personally look through all the rooms. Whoever used to reside here took all of their personal belongings with them when they left, because all the rooms only contained the bare minimum furniture. The wardrobes were empty, the beds had no blankets, and the shelves were bare. It made for an easy search, but fruitless.

"Miss Wang, there is nothing here." Official Ma seemed more relaxed now that he was sure no masked men were hiding in the shadows. He followed behind Wang Jingyuan as she looked under beds for clues, knocked on the walls for hidden panels, and tugged on shelves to see if any secret rooms opened up. "Maybe this really is just an abandoned house."
