Chapter 60: Not of This World

Aisling looked at the apathetic man before her as the pain of the needle made her open her eyes wider. She expected to lose consciousness after the injection. However, the anticipated wooziness and sedation did not occur.

Instead, she felt like her mind was on fire. She was bombarded with flashes of images, feelings and voices as if she was watching a thousand TV shows on fast forward at once. She could not grasp anything.

She opened her mouth to scream. However, the man before her lifted his index finger and pointed at her, and the scream froze in her throat.

The pain was excruciating. Every time she screamed, she could release the mental energy built up in her. Now, it felt like she had a fire trapped in her.

"We cannot allow all that mental energy to escape." The man said. "Now, look into the crystal ball."

Aisling noticed there was a large crystal ball in front of her on the table. She forced herself to stare into the crystal ball.
