The girl looked at him with anger and disappointment, Malcom turned his head to see the dead merman and without understanding a word of what the girl was saying, he said.

"Yes, of course I killed him, he was trying to eat me!"

She looked at Malcom as if what he said was irrelevant, with some exasperation she sighed and said pointing to the merman's corpse.

"They don't have a choice, it's their nature, and they hate us after what we did to them, you have a choice!"

Malcom looked at her and tried to keep his composure, he said.

"No, not really, if I didn't do anything I would have been eaten, or I would have drowned, so no, I had no choice!"

The girl looked at him with a face full of reproach and raising her voice, she said.

"Those are stupid excuses, you didn't put in the effort to save him!"
